Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity CGs and Clad 6 Beach Resort

Famitsu did a small news story regarding the new CGs and beach area.

Clad 6 Resort Colony

This beach isn't naturally made on any planet. In fact it exists within Clad 6 resort colony where the main characters reside.  However, monsters have been unleashed into this area making this environment no longer enjoyable to it's citizens.

Koko Merodda
It has spikes on it's hard shell.
Bullets have no effect on it if you attack it from the front.
It has a charged attack that hits victims close by.

Gol Lilly
A plant monster like the poison lily.
It spits out ice at those in it's proximity.

Jaggo Rizona
Its a cute monster but they like to attack in groups.

Geer Zog  (Geel Zog)

This mutated creature attacks on a floating foothold making the whole stage tilt based on it's weight. It has various attacks including scattering mines across the stage. When it's HP is low, it changes it's color from Blue to Red.

Charge Shot II scan

Basically the premise behind Charge Shot II is how it works similarly to Phantasy Star Zero's photon arts for ranged weapons. Read more about it here and here.

Laser Cannon shoots a very large beam that shoots out the front.

Twin Handgun, after a fast dash, you make a somersault and shoot blindly at enemies.

PSP2i: Lobby Sneak Peek and New Screenshots

Today we look at several screenshots of Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity and a sneek peek of the visual lobby menu.

Sakai updated this morning saying he has a cold.  So he's showing off two color variations of the Visual Lobby.

Visual Lobby Variation

The visual lobby is a new feature where Online Multiplayer gamers can meet up before starting a party. The lobby is somewhat similar to PSO's lobby in design.

The menu shows some expected features like Party List and Lobby List. At the bottom it says "Online Shop". I wonder what that could be.

New Screenshots

Here's Nagisa in bodily form. As you may already know, she's a Duman who's' been traveling alone for some time. Despite how powerful she is, she's requesting a guard from Little Wing to escort her. But it appears this is just a cover for her to meet one of Little Wing's main characters.

Nagisa from Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity.

In one of the promo videos it appears she meets up with Emilia. It must have something to do with Wynarl and Mika… (OMG SPOILERS)

Duman from Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity

The Dumans are of a new race that are some sort of a genetic mutation of the Humans. They have a dark power hidden within their eyes, and can overpower the other races.  It appears the birth of this race may have something to do with the SEED attacks 3 years ago, but it's not very clear. Here's the female Duman in the visual lobby.

What a lovely camera angle!

Infinity Blast a Duman ability

Photon is concentrated in a certain part of the body and is unleashed as an attack. The Dumans can invoke this new ability called Infinity Blast. Based on your battle type Hu/Ra/Fo/Br, the infinity blast attacks differently. One unique feature of this blast is how it can be extended even longer by attacking in a chain. When we viewed the TGS demonstration, the Infinity blast lasted for a pretty long time.

Friend Partner

Of course my favorite feature is Friend Search. It allows you to obtain someone else's character and bring them along with you in missions, with their weapon palette and autowords intact.

Cream Friend Partner

As you can see, Sonic downloaded his friend's character Cream. It appears friend partners are stored under a new menu next to the partner card. It shows the partner card icon but with an S written on it.  Gamespot Japan is unsure of whether the Friend Partner's level is the same as yours. However, this seems to be the case when looking at the beach TGS video.  Then there's the recently discovered info of inviting the other characters you made on your save file according to Sega's TGS magazine.

Olga Flow is back and not only does he fall from a never ending tube. He attacks you again when you reach the bottom.

Charge Shot II

Shougai uncovered some minor tidbits regarding Charge Shot II. Charge Shot II was detailed in a previous post here.

  • Charge Shot II
    • Charge Shot II is a new charge shot attack animation for ranged weapons.
    • Charge Shot II can be activated with the triangle button.
    • Ranged weapons randomly include Charge Shot I or Charge Shot II.
    • (Basically you may pick up a weapon with the old Charge shot, or you may find a weapon that has Charge Shot II)
    • After the Final Grind, you may grant a ranged weapon with either Charge Shot I or Charge Shot II.
    • (Basically if I grind my Leek Rifle to 10, then use an extend code, I can apply Charge Shot II)

Create Missions with Mission Codes in Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity

  • Clarified Information Regarding Partner Characters

Early this morning the official site updated with information that was already obtained from this post about Mission Codes. But now we at least get to see pretty pictures to go alongside it.

Infinity Mission

Infinity Missions are user created missions where one applies an item called a "Mission Code" to customize the look and feel of a mission.

You can obtain mission codes either by exchanging them with other people or collecting them within a mission.  When you play these missions the monsters that appear are random allowing for new surprising monsters to appear.

First find a Mission Disk that contains a Mission Code

Go to the Code Counter
Register this Mission Disk to create an Infinity Mission

Enjoy your infinity Mission at the Mission Counter.

Mission Codes

A mission code controls aspects of the field, boss, and enemies that appear, including special effects where certain items can drop easily. The name of the mission code is affected by the boss and field contained in that code. For example the mission code, "Huge Monster of the Fresh Green" contains the grassy plain fields of Parum and the De Ragan as the boss. The mission code level affects the priority of the mission. Mission codes can be played on any difficulty rank. This includes the Infinity Mission rank which contains monsters above level 200.

Mission Code Info Page 1

On page 1: Mission codes can contain the boss and the types of monsters that appear, for example in the picture above, De Ragan is the boss and Moatoob and SEED monsters appear. The "Monster Level" is based on the degree of difficulty you select, then adds that amount to it.

  • Monster Levels
    • C Grade: 1+
    • B Grade: 50+
    • A Grade: 100+
    • S Grade: 150+
    • ∞ Grade: 200+

Mission Code Info Page 2

On Page 2:  The mission field and special effects are shown. The above shows how there's a special effect to increase the drop rate.

Mission Code Info Page 3

On Page 3: The Mission code contains who discovered the mission code and the number of "synthesis points." "Synthesis points" are used up when creating a mission code.

Mission Code Synthesis

Sort of like synthesizing a weapon in PSU, You can mix and match different mission codes to create your own customized mission. First you select a mission code that is specified as the "Base Mission" which contains the field that you will play on. Then you select the "Plus Mission" which contains the boss. Afterwards the "Result Mission" will be created with the aspects you selected before it.

Base (Field) + Plus (Boss) = Result (Mission)

For example, the picture above is using the "Huge Monster of the Fresh Green" mission code as the "Plus Mission" then changing the "base mission" to Neudaiz' cherry blossom fields. This can also change what the enemies drop.

In the original mission code, you have Moatoob and Seed enemies in the green plains of Parum. They, for example, would normally drop sword related weapons in that field, once you change it to the cherry blossom field, they will drop rifles instead.

The created mission code will have a brand new name that reflects the contents of the mission code. The resulting name became "Huge Monster of the Bloom."

Additional Comments

The images confirm the ability of downloadable mission codes. Recall the Pre-order post where they will give you a card containing the mission code for Dyla Bravas to appear as a boss.

Zero Costume

Terada says there's an outfit based on PSZero
He blurred it of course but it sure is obvious..

Captain T updated today with a little info about friend search, though personally I'd rather Sakai talk about it.  Instead we'll go through Shougai's interpretation on what Terada was talking about.

  • Meet all your characters!
    • I can use my character as a "Partner Character" and bring them along in missions.
    • When you select partner characters to bring along in a mission:
    • You can bring yourself (A character you created becomes an NPC), your friend's character (NPC), a Story Character and Colonel Sanders along with you in a mission.
    • Normally a partner character's level is usually reflected by the party leader's level however…
    • The level of your character as an NPC stays the same and does not gain any experience points.
    • (Your partner character's strength is not affected by the party leader's level. )
    • (Remember this statement applies to partner characters that you personally made.)
    • (When Sakai talks about Friend Search, we'll have better and clearer information)

Basically the confusion as to why "you" couldn't gain any levels was that if you converted your own character (that you made) as a partner character, then that character can't gain levels.
