Rebirth System in Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity
Post Extended!
Today we’ll talk about the Rebirth or Reincarnation system. It allows you to rebirth your character to level 1 with bonus stats you set! Afterwards we outline the points found in the latest Dengeki magazine about Infinity Missions.
The Rebirth system is activated at level 50 at the type counter. Your character uses a certain amount of bonus points that they can set to specific parameters like ATK, ACC, MND, and even create an Extend Code. Don’t worry, you don’t have to use up ALL your bonus points. They will carry over to your next reincarnation.
In the screenshot above you have 100 Bonus points. The player then uses up the points by assigning them to parameters like HP, PP, etc..
You may use the rebirth system as many times as you want, but the parameters themselves will have a cap. Sakai says it will take a considerably long time before you reach each cap. Please keep in mind that you can not change your race, sex, clothes, or name at this counter.

After you’re finished setting the bonus points, a flashy effect surrounds your character and you return to level 1 with the bonus stats you set. Your type level also remains the same, for example, if you are a level 80 human and your hunter level was 20, after reincarnation you return to level 1 with hunter level 20. But the rebirth system has more tricks hidden up it’s sleeve.
Each time you use the rebirth system, your type level cap can also increase while unlocking new abilities. The type level cap you get is based on what level you reincarnated from. Also the maximum number of ability slots also increases, you can even achieve 12 slots. For those who played Phantasy Star Portable 2 and are worried about how long it takes to reach a new type level. You now have a new Mission Code with a special effect titled “戦闘タイプポイントアップ” or “Increase Battle Type Points” where it can boost the amount of type level points you receive at the end of the mission. For more information about Mission Codes, read here.
So please utilize the Rebirth system as it will be the key to surpassing the new mission difficulty rank of Infinity! Your friends can also see the amount of times you used this system as well on your partner card.

Sakai answered some user submitted questions in regards to the Rebirth system. Let’s take a look at some of them shall we.
In regards to any racial differences between the parameter caps and stats… Let’s say you are going to carry over 50PP through the rebirth system.
A Newman starts out with 250PP > After Reincarnation > Newman Base PP is 300PP
A Human starts out with 200PP > After Reincarnation > Human Base PP is 250PP
(This still allows for the stat difference between each race to apply even when you reach the cap of a particular parameter. Since at the end of the day, the Newman will always have higher PP than the Human. But of course the player of one race can surpass a player of another race before they reach the cap, that is until that other player catches up. )
In regards to Weapon and Armor minimum levels… Of course if you were using a weapon that has a minimum level of 90, after you rebirth, you can no longer use it since you are at level 1. Thankfully, Infinity now has more weapons of C and B rank, but one should not throw away useful low ranking weapons. Sakai added a special note though, he states, “”Eh? Your shared storage is full? We’ll talk about that later on.”
Suppose you get too strong for a mission through the rebirth system… Try out the new mission rank called Infinity. It is even more brutal than S rank missions.
In regards to the Battle Type Cap… When you use the rebirth system, the battle type caps for Hunter, Ranger, Force, and Braver also increases at the same time. Before when I talked about how the type level cap you get is based on what level you reincarnate as, Sakai used this as an example. Please note, the following example may change in the final version.
A level 200 character who rebirths, will have his type level cap at 50.
A level 100 character who rebirths, will have his type level cap at 35.
When you rebirth and increase your type level cap, you are allowed to add the brand new abilities to your low level character. (So when you are type level 30, then reincarnated and through game progress you achieve type level 31, you can add the new ability that is available for that type level.)

I’d be hesitant to put “grinding” and “heaven” anywhere remotely near each other.

Y’know, I wonder if you were to rebirth multiple times at level 100, would the class level gain any more or would it forever be stuck at 35. And if you did the rebirth once at 200 and then rebirth again at less than that, would you lose your level 50 class…

I think it’s cumulative. Of course you can’t quote me on this but let’s say according to his example, level 100 increases the cap by 5.
L100 T30 > Reincarnate > L100 T35 > Reincarnate > L100 T40

That sounds more like I’d hope. Of course, if you think about how many times you’d have to level to 100, It’d probably be easier to just be 200 at least the first time. Although, by the time Infinity may reach us, we should all have at least a 200 character or 3. ^_^

BTW, is that last option on the pic: http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Rebirth-Counter.jpg the Extend Codes part? Just a bit curious. ^_^

Yes that’s extend code. I wonder what the extend code cap will be.
