Actually it isn’t that particular sword that is fast, they just increased the swing speed of the sword class in general, to ballance it out with the rest of the weapon types.

Alis and Alys aren’t the same person, either. They’re a couple thousand years apart, in fact. Alis is the main character of Phantasy Star (1989 Master System/Genesis game) and Alys is a character in Phantasy Star IV: End of the Millennium (1994 Genesis game) 1,000 years passes between PSI and PSII, and another thousand between II and IV. III happens in some ambiguous time frame between the two, but it doesn’t really have anything to do with, well, anything, so that doesn’t matter anyway.

And yes, Ethan is all over the place in the Portables. I never played PSPo1, but Ethan is a partner character in PSPo2, you get his card and some plot in the side story mission Hero’s Rondo. In Infinity, you partner with him again in a playful competition between your team (Ethan, Karen, and Hyuga) and another team (Shizuru, Lumia, Yut, and Emilia) during a Neudaiz Light Festival. He also appears in a video in the true ending of PSPo2, hanging out in a bar with Tonnio and Leo. Of course, one may not recognize him right away, because he isn’t wearing his hoodie or his rogue outfit. He’s stuck with the ridiculous Guardians uniform now.
