Duman Infinity Blast Force and Vanguard: PSP2i

Posted by Ricardo

I saw that someone wanted to know how the Force and Vanguard Infinity Blasts look like on Gamefaqs, but the description was vague. Well It’s kind of a coincidence Sakai posted this today.

Infinity Blast Force

The Force Version of the Infinity Blast

During this blast, if you press Square, your Duman will unleash balls of light consecutively. At the end, the light will explode and can hit enemies that are nearby the circumference of its explosion. If you hold down the triangle button, you will do a light explosion around your character.

Vanguard Infinity Blast

The Vanguard version of the Infinity Blast

With the Square button you will generate a photon sword in both hands and unleash quick spinning attacks. If you hold the triangle button, your Duman will spin up into the air with a tornado attack.

Type Level Abilities

Type level ranges unlock new special features for Infinity Blasts.

  • Infinity Blast Levels
    • Type Level 11 ~ 20: HP Recovery*
    • Type Level 21 ~ 30: Reduced Charge Time
    • Type Level 31 ~ 40: Sleep Effect
    • Type Level 41 ~ 50: Blast time lengthened.

Though Sakai wrote HP recovery, the current form in the Demo is HP absorption.

The drawbacks

Now, the Infinity Blasts are a double edged sword, because just like the nanoblast, you can not use any items to heal yourself  during the process. No items whatsoever. So you need to be careful with your timing, especially with bosses or you might die….

Additional Comments

See I knew Sakai was going to balance this the right way. I didn’t think for one minute they were able to heal themselves. So maybe the Dumans are a strong race, but their poor defense will obliterate those who can’t Just Guard (Exact Block).

I’m really impressed with how much Sakai seems to “get it” and understand how an online game should be, I really hope this design philosophy continues on to PSO2

Sakai is seriously the man. He knows what we want. And he gives it to us.

So does this mean that the Infinity Blasts will be as useless as Nanoblasts when playing on the higher difficulty levels? Cuz it sounds like it. :(

Infinity Blasts are way overly powerful if you check out the TGS video. Some attacks are so long range that I’m sure the enemies will die before they get to you. I think it’s more of a problem against bosses though.

And the higher chance you can get, when only one item is missing, is 1/34 ; which it stays very low, imo. 1/34 chance to win per every 100 or 200円 put into the gachan… Erk…

But, of course, the more you play past the 10 first attempts, the more you increase your chances to win dramatically.

@ johnny five : hahaha, no.
On 10 attempts :
– possible combinations : 34^10 = 2,06×10^15
– winning combinations : 10! = 3628800
– chance to win : (34^10)/10! = 1 chance on 568.887.168

Umm that means that they had a 34000000000/1 chance.

And I don’t think the probability to win a rare item directly from a gachan can be as worse as the lower chance to complete the list (if we keep PSO2 as exemple and suppose the equiprobability, it was : (34^10)/10! )
