Charge Shot 2 Animations for Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity

Today Sakai showed off some revised animations for Charge Shot 2 and the Yellow Man Jersey looks like in the game. The Yellow Man Jersey is a collaboration outfit for Calorie Mate. Calorie Mate was the inspiration for the healing items for Phantasy Star. So this collaboration has a big meaning to the history of Phantasy Star where eventually our healing items are now called Monomate.

Olga Flow's opening scene was shown at Jump Festa. Plus you might hear some BGM that sounds familiar.

If you attend the National Thanks Festa 2011, you can receive the password for this outfit!

Charge Shot II Notice

This post will serve as the official information regarding Charge Shot II. This is a combination of four posts together. The newest animations are shown at the top, while the older post is shown at the bottom.  The videos shown below may or may not reflect what will occur in the final version of the game.  Since this post was written during game development, any changes to descriptions or animations will be shown here automatically.

Charge Shot II – Handgun

[flowplayer src='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/handgun.flv' splash='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/handgun.png']

How cute, a little skit. So here's a Dewman screaming "HELP!", but you're out of mates and no force is nearby. Just whip out your handgun to HEAL the other player. Handgun charge shot II heals both the player you shoot at and yourself. It is not shown in this animation because the person shooting is at full HP. If your accuracy is high, the amount recovered is high.

Charge Shot II – Twin Handgun

[flowplayer src='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/twinhandgun.flv' splash='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/twinhandgun.png']

After you dive forward while shooting you turn and shoot at both sides. This is a move Crouch does in the opening movie.

Charge Shot II – Grenade

[flowplayer src='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/grenade.flv' splash='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/grenade.png']

After the first shot, you turn and shoot again.

Charge Shot II – Longbow

[flowplayer src='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/longbow.flv' splash='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/longbow.png']

After jumping in the air, you shoot down at the ground 4 times.

Charge Shot II – Cards

[flowplayer src='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Cards.flv' splash='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/cards.png' ]

From the feet of the enemy you locked onto, cards shoot out. These cards can even hit flying enemies. This attack can also launch foes to the air.

(Well they do kinda look like confetti when they explode..)

Charge Shot II – Crossbows

[flowplayer src='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/crossbow.flv' splash='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/crossbow.png']

While jumping and doing a forward somersault, you shoot out 3 rapidfire shots.

Point your gun towards the air and shoot. The bullets rain down on the enemies you targeted.

Charge Shot II – Shotgun

[flowplayer src='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/shotgun2.flv' splash='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/shotgun2.png']

While doing an acrobatic move, shoot 3 rapid fire shots.

Charge Shot II –  Laser Cannon

[flowplayer src='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/lasercannon2.flv' splash='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/lasercannon2.png']

Laser Cannon sweeps frontward enemies in an arc like fashion.

The Laser cannon Chargeshot II has a unique characteristic called "Resistance Nullification"  which makes it effective against enemies of multiple resistances.

(Though this Resistance Nullification makes it sound as if it invalidates all resistances. So is it 2 or 3?)

Charge Shot II – Machine Gun

[flowplayer src='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/machine-gun2.flv' splash='http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/machine-gun.png']

With a quick roundhouse kick you can shoot enemies rapidly.

The machine gun charge shot II is effective against enemies that are shooting resistant. The machine gun has the "striking" characteristic attached to it.  *Sakai wrote previously that it could chain but it actually was a mistake.

Charge Shot II Modification

All weapons can be switched from Charge Shot I to Charge Shot II by paying the price of meseta that would be used to grind once.

Charge Shot II Resistance Recap

A while back from Dengeki, we mentioned how Charge Shot II now has "characteristics" or "attributes" attached to it. The point of these characteristics is to go against an enemy's resistance. Some enemies have resistances to the type of weapon in three categories; Striking refers to Melee weapons, Shooting refers to Guns, and Force refers to Technic weapons.

The Machine Gun has the Striking Attribute attached which means it can overcome enemies who are resistant to guns. The Laser Cannon appears to be the jack of all trades with Charge Shot II now that it can overcome enemies of multiple resistances. The Laser canon damage calculation is not affected by enemy resistances of some of those three types and will just attack them normally.

I think now that you have Diverse (PP absorbing) as a technic, you can probably be a real Guntecher.
