PSP2i: Grinding Change; Sword Replica

DPS

Dengeki says they will release a SPECIAL interview with Sakai. This interview will be revealed December 22nd, 2010. He'll cover news about the near completed ROM and whatever had to be omitted from the last issue.

Also some correction with Infinity Missions from Dengeki.

Look an Ob Lily!

  • Infinity Missions
    • Drop Boost: Rises when you defeat regular enemies.
    • Attribute Bonus: The Attribute rate is granted.

It appears the original text said the EXP and the Attribute rate was boosted so they just wanted to correct that information before it got out. Shougai didn't post it anyway so I figure they caught the mistake.

Some Changes

Today was a very short post about the upcoming Sega Expo that Rapico has been tweeting about. It looks like they are constructing a replica of Nagisa's Steel Hearts.

The Steel Hearts reconstructed in real life!

He mentioned that the photon arts that were tweaked as published in a magazine article (most likely about Blade Destruction, but he didn't specify which photon art… ) these tweaks apply to all photon arts and not just some of them. The details about these adjustments will be mentioned in the future on the blog.

The next part is a change in the weapon grinding system. Infinity will no longer have random values assigned when grinding weapons. If you transfer your character from PSP2 to Infinity, all weapons grinded/extended are transferred with a  maximum value.  He just says not to worry about it.

Grind Significance?

It seems kind of random that Sakai removed grind variations or does it…?

Shougai's Interpretation

  • Grind Changes
    • The "grind variance" (increases ATK  power value per grind) has been abolished.
    • (PSUBLOG Comment: When you grind weapons, it increases the atk power by a random number. It could be +5~13 atk power each time though the exact value is based on the weapon category. But something is wrong here…)
    • The stats added by grinding is now a set value.
    • It's not necessary to reset your game to try for a different grind value.
    • When you transfer data from PSP2, your "grind variance" changes to the "maximum value"
    • (So the details about this maximum value is what's missing.)
    • The grind variance of imported weapons are corrected.

Since covering news of the Japanese version of PSP2, I've always known that when we grind weapons we have a random number assigned to the grind. If you wanted to change this number you had to restart the game. Now that Sakai is removing this grind, the purpose of this revision is to possibly match what's currently in the International version.

PSUPedia noticed initially when you grind in the International version, you have a set grind (so this news doesn't apply to us anyway), plus you have a higher set grind than the Japanese version.  Whatever this maximum value is, it can either match up with the International version or could be a new value entirely. Basically it appears the Japanese benefit from this change anyway.

As for our fate, I don't know, but it seems possible we are the pioneers of what Infinity's grinded values are.  Hopefully in the future, Sakai or News magazines will shed some light on what's actually going on.

The voice actors of Nagisa and Wynarl can be heard in the Character Creation. But you already know it won't sound exactly like their characters in the game.
