Phantasy Star Portable 2 JP: Year End Statistic Report

Phantasy Star Portable 2 Statistics

Sakai outlines the player population statistics from December of 2009 to December of 2010. We note some stability in the player makeup but some aspects saw a decrease in players.

The above chart shows the amount of players per level for Phantasy Star Portable 2. Sakai notes, eventually the level 60 ~ 100 players eventually quit the game.

In the Infinity demo, most players hit the level 100 cap. Players above level 100 didn't play it that much. Sakai ponders if those players started a new character.

For PSP2 sexes, the first column represents male to female ratio. Female characters always had more players through out the year, but slowly the male characters were catching up.  The third column represents the battle types for each player. About a year ago we noticed forces were dropping off in numbers, the trend continues in the chart above.

The Force battle types started at 10% and dropped to 8%. Rangers dropped from 17% to 14%. The Bravers (Vanguards) increased from 20% to 26%. Sakai sees it as a problem to have very few forces.

Human then Casts were the most popular race. Beast always remained the least popular. The race makeup changed in Infinity.

Dewmans gained considerable popularity in the Demo, second place to Humans. Forces increased to 15% while vanguards decreased to 22%. Sakai thinks the Force increase may be attributed to the way the new technics work. But I really think it's because of the increase damage output and the huge decrease in PP consumption.  Rangers are still the least popular battle type.

Gemaga and PSP2i is having yet another collaboration. This time an item is called, "Castkochan Grenade" and has the appearance of a Dreamcast.  Based on their twitter page, Gemaga is releasing a password for an item in the 2/26/11 Gemaga magazine. It's likely to be the password for this weapon.

Infinity Curry

Another food based collaboration, this time with Space Create. If you show your PSP2i screen when you enter the store you can get a Calorie Mate Strap. But of particular note is the 3rd campaign which has curry along with the infinity symbol.

Gossip Gurhal

Furage!! Well a few players in japan received the copy of their game early. So we learn some little tidbits from 2ch. The players also posted lots of screenshots of some of the new infinity ranked missions of old areas.

[spoiler]

  • PSPo2i Full Version Early Furage!
    • Infinity Ranked Missions are available for players Level 150+
    • Infinity Ranked Missions has enemies starting from level 200. Highest seen so far were as high as LV225+.
    • Hyakka drops within an Infinity ranked mission.
    • With the rebirth system, if you rebirth at level 50, you are given 5 points.
    • If you rebirth at level 200 you are given 600 points.
    • You use these points to increase a stat. For example at level 50 you can only afford to raise  5PP once, or 2 Stamina once, or obtain 1 extend code. It is much more efficient stat wise to rebirth near level 200.
    • When you raise a stat once, the required point for that stat increases each time.
    • 15 Extend Fragments can be traded to receive 1 extend code at the Parm Leaf Cafe trading mission.'
    • Extend Code Infinity can be used on weapons that were extended.
    • There was a screenshot of Heaven mother and her weapons that drop for an infinity mission.
    • New Clothes for men and women feature Arabian "Disney's Alladin" style outfits.
    • When you use Extend Code Infinity on an Extended Item, the text now says "EXT FULL" instead of "FULL"
    • Extended PSYCHO WAND = 1113  |  Infinity Extended PSYCHO WAND = 1138
    • Extended Sange Yasha = 640ATK 328ACC | Infinity Extended Sange Yasha = 665 ATK 353 ACC.
    • Tylor's replica suit has both sleeves intact. I guess Tylor ripped off the sleeve for his nanoblastish Arm.
    • Sol Protector looks like a somewhat knightly duman outfit.

Yaoroz: A Divine Boss for Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity

Didn't I say Yaoroz is coming in the next Jump Magazine? The scan can be viewed here.

Once every 30 years, this divine beast visits the holy light festival. It's highly intelligent in that it can understand human speech. By no means is this beast evil. (It appears this battle may just be to test the party's strength). On the back of it's body it has a 5 story pagoda. Shougai points out that it appears to be wrapped with Wynarl's hair or something.

A new collaboration item with VJump titled, "VJump Barrette" will be included in the Infinity Guide Book. VJump Barrette (Crossbow) is a password item, so I'm sure it will magically appear in the vision phone password list one day.

Additional Comments

Based on the datamining thread, we have a mission called "Festival Fracas." The kanji of this mission states it's a "Light Festival." Either this is a new field that may have the appearance of the Neudaiz light festival, or it might just be an old area that took place in PSU Episode 2 Chapter 7 "Protect the Festa". We'll see this boss' surroundings once the scan comes out later this week.
