Phantasy Star Portable 2 Available at the Playstation Store!

Hiiii! Happy Phantasy Star Portable 2 day! As you can tell, Phantasy Star Portable 2 ships out in U.S territories today. You can receive your copy at retailers like Gamestop, or download it on the Playstation Store. You may have to use the search icon and type the title of the game to find it.

The purpose of this post is to address basic frequently asked questions about obtaining a copy and the status of the game.

  • Game Release
    • US: 9/14/10
    • Available for PSP and PSPGo
    • Price: $39.99
    • Size: 942MB
    • Ad-hoc Mode and Infrastructure Mode (No Monthly Fees)

You may notice that the size is much less than the Japanese version. This is likely due to the lack of voice acting in text scenes.

Import Transfer

You can transfer all your items and character data from the PSP2 Demo to the full game. Yes all of your titles, weapons, shared storage, and characters will transfer over. You can additionally import your Phantasy Star Portable 1 character to the game to receive the Exam saber which has a freeze status effect, and one of four auras.

Additional Comments

It is recommended to play Story Mode for as long as you can before heading online. Story Mode unlocks items you can purchase at the store, some of which are essential for Vangaurds. I received my copy from Gamestop today around 5PM. The clerk had no idea what the game was and asked if I wanted to reserve it. It took around 10 minutes before they finally found their one copy in stock! So I'll see you guys online later tonight.

  • Additional changes from the Japanese version.
    • The option to import DLC weapons and costumes has been removed from the Import Screen.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity: Default Outfits [Part 1]

Post Extended!

Sakai updated today talking a little about the new clothing designs. The design team thought long and hard to bring you these brand new costumes for each of the default races. His post is separated into parts so you'll see the rest of the outfits at a later time.

Human Male

This outfit represents a Japanese School Uniform called a Gakuran.

Human Female

This outfit represents a Japanese Idol! Ooh Sparkly!

Newman Male

A Japanese style outfit made for young boys.

Newman Female

This outfit is a Ceremonial Kimono.

Later on Sakai plans to show you the CG versions of these outfits.  During Character creation, you won't be able to choose the old default costumes of PSP2, however they have not disappeared from the game. All default costumes no longer have that "race restriction" attribute, so you can wear whatever you want.
