PSP2i: New Technics and More from Latest Famitsu

Man all those famitsu scanners have been skipping this game for the past few issues. Shougai PSO luckily obtained Famitsu early today, so we don't have to go through deciphering blurry scans today. Awww. This post is not currently finished…

New Technics

We have a brand new line of Technics. The "Sa" forms.

  • Sabarta
    • This technic shoots out whats described as a "snowstorm" out in front of you in a straight line.
    • It can damage multiple enemies consecutively.
    • SG Comment: Like an ice version of Damgrants?
    • SG Comment: Is it Gibarta from PSO?
  • Sazonde
    • A lightning technic shoots out a hollow lightning ball.
    • The lightning ball dissipates after 3 seconds.
    • You can move freely once the lightning ball shows up.
    • Enemies are launched up once they feel it.
    • Electric shock status effect
  • Nagrants
    • A light technic.  It fires a laser to a locked on opponent.
    • It shoots out 5 lasers in one set.
    • SG Comment: It is unknown whether this laser is a guided missile.
    • SG Comment: It is unknown if this can hit multiple locked on enemies.

Friend Search

  • Friend Search
    • Downloaded characters become  friend characters.
    • You acquire their registered mission code that the friend character has set.
    • Friend Search is used in Sleep and Story Mode.
    • Friend Search can store up to 5 character data at a time.
    • You would need to check these slots and make sure you have free ones available.
    • (I'm unsure but maybe you can kick characters out you don't want?)
    • You can ultimately store 32 friend characters.
  • Friend Search Present
    • After Friend Search is concluded and you have them registered as Friend Characters…
    • They can be used as Partner characters. You have 32 character slots to fill these Friend Characters.
    • The friend character's status, equipment, comment, and auto words are carried over.
    • When you play with friend characters, you get a "Partnership Rating" of sorts.
    • (I'll personally call this partnership rating as it ties into PSUPedia's NPC concept.)
    • If you take them with you on missions, your partnership rating improves as you clear missions.
    • Based on the Partnership Rating, you can receive gifts from your friend characters as items or even photon arts.

Hyuga Ryght

Hyuga Ryght, is 20 years old, male, and a Duman. (He was mutated from a Human to Duman). He was originally in PSP1, but went unseen during the time of PSP2. Now he's back to join the fight for PSP2 Infinity. According to Shougai, he may or may not be on our side since he was seen "crossing swords" with Nagisa.

Originally Hyuga was born as a Human. For some reason, Hyuga has undergone a transformation to a Duman for the last half a year. He has accepted this new form as the Holy Light's guidance. But he was infected by the SEED in the  previous PSU episodes. Was this transformation an after effect of the SEED?

Enemies

Typo? I'm not sure, but the enemy that was originally called Bora Brima has changed its name to ボラ・ヴリーマ Bora Vrima (Bora Vreema). Apparently this monster was a typo. But I guess we'll know when we see the scan. The only new information was that it can shoot missiles from its shell. The path of these missiles follow a parabola line and will fall to the ground. If you look at the Shonen Jump scan you'll see these missile like objects on its back.

Additional Comments

Is it me or does Nagrants sound like it will face unfortunate implications?

Angelo Comments:

"Both Sa- and Na- were prefixes for techniques in the classic games, although like how Gi- and Ra- don't really refer to power tiers anymore (not since PSO) the usage here is different too.

If "Sa" was tacked onto the beginning of a technique name it meant it targeted the party instead of just a single target. (Resta vs. Saresta/Sar, and so on.)

There actually was a Nagrants in Phantasy Star II. (It became "Nathu" in the US version to fit in the space.) Na- in PSII is basically equivalent to Ra- in IV and Online: the third "tier" tech. (The US version of IV kept the "Na" prefix. It had Ragrants.) The PSP2i description for it is rather interesting as Grants series in II and IV were (single) lasers that fired out of the main character's hand." [@Angelo]

Additional Comments

Since people have been asking for proof if Episode 1 and 2 are in Infinity, I think these images should quell all those questions.

Duman Infinity Blast Force and Vanguard: PSP2i

I saw that someone wanted to know how the Force and Vanguard Infinity Blasts look like on Gamefaqs, but the description was vague. Well It's kind of a coincidence Sakai posted this today.

Infinity Blast Force

The Force Version of the Infinity Blast

During this blast, if you press Square, your Duman will unleash balls of light consecutively. At the end, the light will explode and can hit enemies that are nearby the circumference of its explosion. If you hold down the triangle button, you will do a light explosion around your character.

Vanguard Infinity Blast

The Vanguard version of the Infinity Blast

With the Square button you will generate a photon sword in both hands and unleash quick spinning attacks. If you hold the triangle button, your Duman will spin up into the air with a tornado attack.

Type Level Abilities

Type level ranges unlock new special features for Infinity Blasts.

  • Infinity Blast Levels
    • Type Level 11 ~ 20: HP Recovery*
    • Type Level 21 ~ 30: Reduced Charge Time
    • Type Level 31 ~ 40: Sleep Effect
    • Type Level 41 ~ 50: Blast time lengthened.

[via pspo2iblog]

Though Sakai wrote HP recovery, the current form in the Demo is HP absorption.

The drawbacks

Now, the Infinity Blasts are a double edged sword, because just like the nanoblast, you can not use any items to heal yourself  during the process. No items whatsoever. So you need to be careful with your timing, especially with bosses or you might die….

Additional Comments

See I knew Sakai was going to balance this the right way. I didn't think for one minute they were able to heal themselves. So maybe the Dumans are a strong race, but their poor defense will obliterate those who can't Just Guard (Exact Block).
