PSP2i: Episode 2 and Sidestory

How fun, Famitsu rated Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity a Platinum rating by the scores of 10, 9 , 9, 9. Strangely this total is the same amount of points Phantasy Star Online received in 2000.

Chapter 2 Act 1

With a joint operation effort with the GUARDIANS, you are tasked with capturing a certain enemy. Lumia was dispatched to help you in your efforts.  Also you will meet someone from GRM who will run you through the details of this mutated creature.

Nagisa becomes flustered when she meets  Hyuga. You know, that guy she pointed her sword at! Oh no!

After such a long time, Hyuga and Lumia finally see each other again. Sakai says that if you are a PSU fan, you'll find their conversation very interesting.

Using shortcut orders, you will guide a monster to a trap, then lock them in!

Trap the monsters to complete the mission!

Bola Vreema will be the boss of Chapter 2 Act 1

True Ending Side Story

Red Ring Rico makes an appearance in Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. However she isn't so easy to reach to. Episode 2 has three endings, but only those who obtain the "True Ending" can acquire Rico's side story. In addition, Olga Flow is expected to become the boss of this side story mission. Hmm…

To those that played PSO, you should try achieving the true ending.

PSP2 Items in PSU

星霊祭フンドシ (Light Festival Fundoshi)

スクール水着 (School Swimsuit)

デモンズディザスター (Demon's Disaster)

グリナグレネード (Grinna Grenade)

It appears the English translators changed the weapon's name to Demon's Devastation. Grinna Grenade is an original item.

Only the clothes will be available in the GC shop. As you can see, Crouch's hairstyle looks better on PSU models.

Discover Planet Treasure in Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity

It took this long for Sakai to finally talk about Planet Treasure!? Planet Treasure are special stones you can collect to trade for rare items. Planet Treasure can be obtained through clearing specific Infinity Missions. There are 5 kinds of Planet Treasures:

  • Planet Treasure
    • Stone
    • Bronze
    • Silver
    • Gold
    • Platinum

At the Mission Code Counter, you will see all the necessary information on what missions you need to do to obtain the treasure.  For example, the missions will ask for you to play a specific mission code, at a specific rank (or above), with a specific playtime.

In other cases it may ask you to do a specific field but require that "Neudaiz" enemies are in it. Things of this nature.

Through an exchange mission, I can trade the Planet Treasure I obtained and use it to acquire scarce items. For example, in the image above, I need Stone, Bronze, and Silver treasure to obtain Fusion Codex5 and Photon Codex3.

In addition, you can obtain "Extend Code Infinity" through this method. Extend Code Infinity allows you to further strengthen your weapon.

For the same type of treasure, you can hold them one at a time. (You can have Goldx1 and Silverx1 etc… but not Silverx2?) In the meantime, try obtaining a different planet treasure. Once you trade that particular treasure, you can try hunting for it again.

Famitsu Interview

Sakai, Terada, and Suganuma were interviewed by Famitsu. They talked about some minor tidbits about PSP2i.

  • Red Ring Rico will become a "partner."
  • If you don't reach the true ending, you won't acquire her card.
  • After acquiring the true ending, a side story mission appears. (It looks as if you'll acquire her card in sidestory)
  • Two types of download missions are planned for Infinity.
  • One type is Extra Missions, the other type is Infinity Missions.
  • It appears they will plan a big infinity mission DLC once a month.
  • Every week they will plan some kind of DLC whether it is missions or items.
  • Infinity Missions will have around 40 different bosses to play with.
  • For DLC Infinity Missions, For the first time , there will be bosses making their debut in them.
  • 8 of those bosses are secret. There are also 2 kinds of secret maps for Infinity Missions.

25 Bosses (PSP2) + 7 Bosses (PSP2i) + 8 Bosses (Secret) = 40

So who are these 8 secret bosses? Probably characters… Well it makes sense with the recent datamining thread.

PSP2i: Alfort Tylor Concept

Alfort Tylor was revealed as a new character a while back, but this time Sakai goes through small details about the character.

In PSU Episode 3, Alfort Tylor was tasked with putting together the chaos on Moatoob. He eventually became known as Don Tylor.

Now he daringly introduces himself as Alfort Tylor.

He talks about his philosophy on leadership and the "values of life." Will it leave an impression on Nagisa's mind?

Drawn by Mizuno, Alfort Tylor's new design was revealed at Thanks Festa.  After a long time, Toshihiko Seki will return as the voice for Alfort Tylor. Naturally, you can obtain Alfort Tylor's partner card, but that's not all…

Two very popular characters, Kunoh and Vasque, will indeed become partner characters. Concerning Kunoh, she will have a very touching subevent planned. Please expect it!
