Phantasy Star Portable: PSP The Best

Phantasy Star Portable PSP the Best will feature 3 episodic movies chronicling the whole Phantasy Star Universe series. It first starts with the SEED INVASION, so that you may know more of the Gurhal Solar System and character history.  It's great for those new players of Phantasy Star Portable 2. Sakai says it was very hard to edit over 30 chapters of video and images together to make one coherent story.

Ethan, Laia, and Lumia will be narrating each episode. The narration voice work is entirely new providing you a sense of feeling and emotion by their respective characters. Also, voice acting is now provided to the script of Episode 3.

However, since Episode 3 has multiple endings (based on S ranking mind you..) certain parts will not shown in the ending of the PSU Chronicle movie.

As for the opening theme of Phantasy Star Portable 2, the "official theme" and the "PSU Chronicle PSP2 opening theme" will be slightly different. Sakai wants you to compare the two openings.

Phantasy Star Portable 2: Famitsu Scan Reveals Two New Characters and Monsters: Sinow Beat, Sand Rappy, Ill Gill

New Phantasy Star Portable 2 News! We're almost done in the main character department. So now we introduce two new characters, Ursula Rolan (Loran) and Chelsea.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 will feature more than 2000 items and more than 1200 variety of weapons.

Also features monsters from PSO: Ill Gill, Sand Rappy, Sinow Beat, Nano Dragon. We'll have an in depth write up soon.

New Characters

Ursula Loran

Ursula
Newman, Age 32, Voiced by Atsuko Tanaka

A female newman who embodies beauty and intelligence. She's pushed out among various fields. She appears to be an old acquaintance of Crouch during the establishment of Little Wing.

Chelsea

Chelsea
Cast, Secret Age. Voiced by Haruka Tomatsu

Chelsea works at the reception desk and performs management at Little Wing. She looks like she's a hostess in a bar but she's very diligent at her job.

New Nanoblast

At Level 10, you can nanoblast your beast, however at a higher level 3 new nanoblasts will be available. Gold, Silver, and Black nanoblasts will feature a more stylish slender beast. We don't know if any other nanoblasts will be added at this time.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 Character Hair Color

  • Character Creation
    • You can now choose brighter hair colors.
    • side note: In PSU, getting that bright pink was impossible.
  • Camera Modification
    • Usually the camera will fixate on a flying boss monster.
    • In this case the camera tilts upwards or downwards based on the location.
    • You can now reset this viewpoint by pushing L.
  • Equipment/Weapon Restrictions
    • Equipments are no longer restricted by having a certain stat.
    • Equipments and Weapons are now restricted by LEVEL.
    • For example, you can not use a certain weapon if you are below level whatever..
  • Status Effect Change
    • Silence and Shock status effects have been combined
    • In other words, now you will be COMPLETELY paralyzed in that you can't attack and use techs.
  • Sound Effects for Rare Drops
    • At the moment of a rare and super rare drop you will hear a sound effect.
    • The sound effect for a super rare drop will be different.
  • Photon Art Colors
    • For Skill Photon Arts, the effect colors will be:
    • Blue for Level 1-10
    • Red for Level 11-20
    • Gold for Level 21-30

Sakai updated today with some minor changes regarding the game's features.

  • Map Icons
    • Player Icons will be arrows like the last time
    • There will be a new icon for some features
    • New: Area Start Icon (Green Wide Arrow)
    • New: Area End Icon (Blue Wide Arrow)
    • New: Gate Not Passed Icon (Blue Wide Line)
    • Before a gate opens the color is blue.
    • After you passed it, the gate becomes green.
    • A dummy trap is a pink circle
    • Enemy is yellow circle.
    • Gate Key is red circle.
  • Boost Monster (TGS)
    • Boost Monsters have an aura at their feet.
    • There are 3 kinds of the boost monsters.
    • They are much harder than normal monsters.
    • They will drop rarer items.
  • Grenade Trajectory
    • The grenade's trajectory has changed
    • The grenade forms a straight line trajectory.
    • side note: Think of this like a straight line but affected by gravity.
    • In PSP1, the grenade formed a parabola trajectory.
  • Photon Art Cap
    • The Photon Art Level Cap is at 30.
    • Photon Arts improve greatly every 10 levels.
    • The PP consumption will be slightly reduced at higher levels based on some Photon Arts.
  • Photon Art Skill Levels
    • The Photon Art for single handed weapons:
    • LVL 1-10 (1 attack) || LVL 11-20 (2 attacks)
    • The Photon Art for 2 handed weapons:
    • LVL 1-10 (2 attacks) || LVL 11-30 (3 attacks)
  • Photon Art Bullets
    • Bullets can increase the abilities of Power / Accuracy / Range / Attribute / Etcetra..
    • At higher levels, there may be an increase the amount of bullets shot.
  • Photon Art Technics
    • PSP2 Technics Levels 1-30 are the equivalent to PSU tech levels 11-40
    • side note: It appears he may change how they look of higher level technics, f.ex: nerf visual effects. 
  • Exchange Items
    • "Mysterious Items" will drop, such as "Magic Stone- Heart Key" -Clarified by pso-w Mike.
    • You will exchange these mysterious items in exchange missions.
    • There will be different exchange missions for each mysterious item.
    • Certain items you can only get from Exchange Missions.
