PSO2 Open Beta: Intro to Mags
Mags are artificial life forms that help you in a quests. Based on the way you feed a mag, its attacking behavior will change. Some information collected here are from wikis. For more in-depth information about feeding mags, read PSO-World’s Massive Mag Guide.
To get a mag you need to be level 05 and complete the Mag License Client Order given by Koffee. She is at the west quest counter.
Koffe’s client orders will unlock at level 5.
- 1. マグライセンス授与申請試練 (Mag License)
Click the client order マグライセンス授与申請試練 (Mag License). In the popup message, press the left button to accept the client order.
Fongalfs are the bigger wolves of the forest.
You may choose any forest quests to look for Fongalfs. These enemies will randomly drop フォンガルフの頭角 in tiny yellow boxes. Once you collect ten of them, return to Koffee to get your 1st mag. Any additional mags require Arks Cash. When you return to report the information to Koffee, just press the left button to complete the Client Order.
Level
- As you feed your mag, it will gain a cumulative level based on its stats. After Lv.30, it can evolve into it’s second form. During the Open Beta, you can level your mag up to level 99. In the official release version, your mag can evolve to its third stage after level 100.
Energy エネルギー
- Your mag’s energy is indicated by a percent bar. As you feed your mag, the energy bar will fill up. You can feed it a certain amount of items until it gets full. You will have to wait a few minutes until the energy drops down before you can feed it again. When your mag’s energy is at 0%, it will not provide any support like healing, or attacking.
Stats 支援レベル
In PSO2, you can now preview how items affect your mag’s stats just by hovering over the item. Your mag’s stats will also affect your character’s stats.
- 打撃支援 Striking Support
- 射撃支援 Range Support
- 法撃支援 Tech Support
- 技量支援 Ability Support
- 打撃防御支援 Striking Defense Support
- 射撃防御支援 Range Defense Support
- 法撃防御支援 Tech Defense Support
Auto Action オートアクション
These are actions the mag will perform automatically. Auto Actions are added when your mag reaches its second form. The actions discovered so far are as follows:

Trigger Action トリガーアクション
Trigger Actions are actions the mag performs under certain circumstances. The following information was collected from Japanese wikis.
Each action has a letter suffix which performs under the following conditions:
- A: (HP Recovery: When health is low)
- A: (PP Recovery: As you move to the next area)
- A: (Increase Stats: When you move to the next area)
- A: (Status Effect: Heals your status effects)
- A: (Invincibility: When your PB Blast is full)
- A: (Revive: When you are incapacitated)
- B: As you move to the next areas.
- E: Maxed Photon Blast Gauge
- G: Emergency Trials
- H: (Increase Stats: When an Emergency Trial Occurs)
- H: (PP Recovery: When you move to the next area)
- J: For a set time period.
Based on those letters above, they are appended to the following trigger actions:
- 支援/HP回復 Support / HP Recovery
- 支援/回復 Support / Recovery
- 支援/能力上昇 Support / Increase Stats
- 支援/状態異常 Support / (Heal) Status Effect
- 支援/無敵 Support / Invincibility

The Mag Menu can be accessed by pressing the [Y] key on your keyboard. Alternatively you can press [ESC] and select the first icon for the item pack, and select the third entry.
Mag Menu
- アイテムを与える Give Item

You feed your mag by giving them items. Be careful! Once you give your mag an item, it will be destroyed. Be sure to LOCK your valuable items in the Item Pack.. Once you click the item, it’s sent to the mag.
Devices are special items that can speed up the feeding process. You can acquire devices in Scratch. When you give them devices you may get new trigger actions.

Unfortunately this section is severely lacking information.
Some starting mags include:
Lyra / Fornax / Lepus / Antlia
Lyra requires high level in Striking Stat
Fornax requires high level in Range Stat
Lepus requires high level in Technic Stat
Antlia requires high level in Ability Stat
Photon Blasts are available once your mag reaches its second stage. You should try to stick to one of the first four stats to evolve your mag. Mags are capable at evolving past level 30, but based on your stat arrangement, it may take longer to evolve.
Photon Blasts must be added to the sub-palette. Just click an empty area, and select the second tab to add a button that triggers your photon blast.
When the photon blast is ready, you’ll see a glowing indication by your HP bar.
There are four types of Photon Blast. Based on data mining, each photon blast has 3 suffixes, “Proi, Imera, and Nifta” Each of these sub types behave differently, for example one may be a rush attack, while another will attack the surrounding area.
Photon Blast
- ヘリクス・プロイ Helix Proi (Striking Type Mags) Charge Attack
- アイアス・プロイ Ajax Proi (Range Type Mags) Grenade like Explosions
- ケートス・プロイ Cetus Proi (Technic Type Mags) PP Recovery
- ユリウス・プロイ Julius Proi (Ability Type Mags) Arm Attack
Helix Proi / Ajax Proi / Cetus Proi / Julius Proi

You can lock items you still need, that way you can't accidentally feed them to your mag anymore.

That's true, hey do you the list of support devices and device items?
Rikku

I have no idea what those would be. I just got my MAG to level 50 BTW
Helix Photon Blast is awesome vs. anything.

@Rikku, isn't helix photon blast the one with the high strike support stat ?
mine has high ability support, and its a sylph with six arms, and it can punch the hell out of one enemy, not the best, but rather effective one a 1v1 fight

My mag is at level 96 and it still hasn't turned into it's 2nd form I think. Is there a certain stat arrangement necessary?
13,13,19,11,12,16, 12 are the stats. My mag has trigger actions, and I've used some devices to give em some, but I don't have any Photon Blasts, or Auto Actions.
How would you get another Mag? Scratch?

Even at level 99, it seems like you can see give your Mag items to boost it's stats; however, I'm still not getting a change in form so I'm just gonna keep trying.

that'd be awesome if anybody that could use the ユリウス・プロイ photon blast uploaded it to youtube.
its the only one i haven't seen.

Ricardo, the "ユリウス・プロイ Julius Proi (Ability Type Mags) Homing bullets"
is wrong, because it doesn't shoot, but Julius teleports to the nearest enemy and punches them several times till it does a charged punch in the end
@Weeaboo, it looks like a sylph with six arms

I thought I'd try giving my Mag 10 striking, 10 ability, 10 striking defense… I just got a striking mag though, with the Unicorn PB.
I like it and everything, but the mag forms are nowhere near as vast or flexible as PSO1 (well, yet!).

Might be a silly question but… are Mags invisible to other players or do people keep them unequipped in the lobby? I never see any Mag but mine…
Ricardo
July 11th, 2012 at 2:32 pm
If you are in the lobby, for some reason you won't be able to see other player's mags. You should see yours however.

hey im having trouble getting my mag license. how do i know when the quest is accepted and which is the best one to kill the big wolves in?

I have a more advanced question: After a mag evolves, I know it can change its form every level that is a multiple of 5 based on the stat arrangement, but does this result in the mag learning the abilities of the new form while retaining the old?
For example I have a force mag that at lvl 100 can learn a stat boost skill, an invincibility skill or a second PP regen skill which triggers when emergency codes start. So lets say I want to have both invincibility and a second PP regen. is this possible or am I stuck teaching it new skills through mag disks?
ALSO how does this affect photon blasts? Would I retain the original PP regen blast while learning a damage blast for me to choose between at will? or does one PB overwrite another?

What if you're raising all your mags stats evenly, successfully?

My MAG is lvl 150 (orange)…what i have to do now? Feeding doesnt do anything :/ … is it da maxlvl?
Ricardo

Yes it's at max level as of now.

July 22nd, 2012 at 4:52 am
@Nilok
The MAG will retain the trigger action from the first time it evolved (and will NOT get a new one). The only way to add more (or change) trigger actions is through devices.
The PB will change every time the MAG change its form though.
eijy
July 22nd, 2012 at 4:58 am
@Nilok
The support skills your mag has are the ones it learned during evolution (lv30 and lv100), changing it's form on other levels will not add or change previously learned skills. You will have to use disks to teach new skills.
The photon blast however will match it's current form.
For example, if you evolve into Antlia and then change it to Lepus this will happen:
lv30->30abl= Antlia (support skill: status recovery, PB: julius proi)
lv65->35tech 30abl= Lepus (skill: antlia's status rec., PB: cetus proi)
The PB changes to match it's current form, but the support skill remains the same.

Whats the difference between ability power and the normal states like strike, range, and tech?
Ricardo
July 26th, 2012 at 12:29 pm
Ability is a stat that increases your damage. Currently it is theorized that it raises the lower end of your damage range for example, instead of doing 400 – 1000 damage, ability would increase it to 600 – 1000.
Anon
July 26th, 2012 at 1:23 pm
Now if you wanna know if ability is better than the respective attack stat of your class: no, 1 point of atk will always give more damage than 1 point of ability.

@Ricardo, I've had these in my inventory forever, and it looks like it's something I can give my mag? It doesn't have the device icon you have shown on this page, so I'm not sure what they are. http://imgur.com/U4aKl

Yes those are also devices that increase stats and HP Recovery.

Is there a gauge to indicate how close you are to your PB being ready?
IceCoffin
August 13th, 2012 at 6:34 am
A little gauge for PB should be seen crawling around the PB icon in your sub-palette. When it fills up, you should hear a sound, and your Mag will glow with a golden aura for a short amount of time.
Don't worry if the aura fades, it's just an indication that your Mag is ready to use Photon Blasts.

Hi.
I want to buy AC using VISA. But…
Oryginal procedure (from official japanese site PSO2) requires to use japanese data (name, surname and probably adress also should be writen with japanese letters).
So…
Is this possible to buy AC currency from Europe?
If yes – what i have to do to purchase AC?

Hi again
Mine game stucks quite often (approx. once per each hour, but sometimes works couple of hours without stuck, and sometimes stuck few times per hour)
japanese message shown when game stuck:

(or very similar looking – i just typed a most similar looking letters)
Can anyone translate it? It can help me solve the case.

@Domo you have to use Webmoney if you are trying to buy Arks Cash outside of Japan.
That message means unexpected error occurred and it can happen for a variety of reasons but it isn't specified.
