The next update on October 24th adds a slew of Halloween themed items and quests! For a limited time, you can participate in the Trick or Treat Emergency Quest where you can see the Naura Cake Sisters in their Halloween uniforms selling their various treats! They’ll also show up in normal quests as well. For a limited time, Latan Rappies will have a chance to drop the Pumpkin Rod!

The next AC scratch is titled “Halloween Night Party” where you can acquire new Halloween and Dark inspired costumes and parts like the Hollow Wanderer costume pictured above!

These will be distributed through FUN Scratch.

As for the last update, consumption items, medical center services, and grinding prices have gone down. Even though some have requested to put the prices back to normal, please understand that these changes are a limited response towards how frequently these services are used. In the future, he plans to address this month’s changes while examining the effects it has made and its impact on inflation. This will take a while so he asks that you give them some time.

You can expect to see future alterations to the game in the Support Measures list later on. For example, they are currently looking into plans to expand the content available in the Premium Set. Once they’ve made some proposals they’ll inform you about it in the Support Measures list. Also, they are looking into reports sent in recently that the lag may have been caused by individuals mass acquiring items through cheating.

PSO2 JP: Beyond the Ruins

ファルス・ヒューナル Falz Hunar

Well after that uh.. “subclass system” we now move onwards to THE NEXT STAGE of Phantasy Star Online 2.

Last night, Sakai and Kimura had a talk show where they answered questions from Japanese media outlets. We were introduced to a new trailer featuring the new field with the Halloween lobby and costumes and even Gettemhart’s outfit. But what’s this?

ファルス・ヒューナル Falz Hunar

Is this a reference to Humar? If you checked the PSO2 roadmap, you may have noted that this other area is the last thing we should be getting before the end of the year. We’ll probably learn more about it in the future. It appears the Naura Cake Sisters will wear Halloween outfits and sell Pumpkin Pie.

The Ruins Area

Famitsu and 4Gamer did yet another recap of information from both presentations. The article mentions a few tidbits about this ruins area in the mountains of Naberius. This area is described as the “Darker’s Den” and has both insect and marine type Darkers.

They also introduced a new Darker called サイクロネーダ Cycloneda (Cyclonerda). Though it moves slowly, it uses a morning star for long range attacks.

ゼッシュレイダ Zeshreida

At the end they fought against the boss Zeshreida, who has high stats all around, described to be one of the “strongest class Darkers.”

When Sakai was asked about how much space PS Vita version takes up, he said it was roughly half the size of the PC version. They are also currently investigating how 3G will pan out, we’ll probably have more details about it later down the road.

Just to recap, the subclass system lets you play two class combinations.  You will have access to the subclass’ photon arts, technics, and skills and it will apply 20% of its stats to your main class. However, you are restricted to using weapon types of your main class. The only way around this is to find weapons that can be used by all classes like the  “Mic Stand” rod Michaela gives out until September 26th. When asked about recommended class combinations, Kimura answered with “Fighter/Gunner” and Sakai recommended “Hunter/Fighter.”

We also learned the name for the Smartphone version of the game is actually “Phantasy Star Online 2 Essential” but was shortened to “es” for the title.

It also appears the PlayStation Vita version will also have costumes from Phantasy Star Portable 2.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Camp Ship and Project CUTE

Sakai explains why it is called Phantasy Star Online 2.

  • To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Phantasy Star Online
  • Because it’s a completely new game.
  • Because it’s a fully online game
  • Because it’s a title that carries on the idea of an Online RPG that’s spread to even more people from those Phantasy Star Online had already captured.

You should view “PSO2″ as not a direct sequel to PSO, but rather the successor to Phantasy Star Online.

And here’s an area most people who played the Alpha test are familiar with already. This is the camp ship area where after you receive a quest, players enter this small Arcs space ship that travels to the planet that corresponds with the quest.

It is the point between the lobby and the field where players can make preparations before diving in.

This camp ship area is shown in that TGS promo movie you saw earlier.

Did you ever notice there’s a small aircraft stored beneath the Camp Ship? Yes, though it may look small, the camp ship is actually quite large. It is covered in camouflage paint since it’s not only used for space travel (warping), but can enter within range of the atmosphere.

Mystery Weapon Category?

In Famitsu Connect-On, Sakai dropped some hints on what that weapon was in the Tokyo Game Show Trailer. The hints said since PSO, it’s not the first time this weapon category has appeared, and out of the 3 classes, Forces can not equip it.

Given these clues, we know generally Partisans can only be equipped by Hunters (except if it’s a rare partisan, then even forces could equip it.). But what other weapon category could it be?

Also for Alpha Test 2, Sakai thinks he could have 10,000 simultaneous connections. The first Alpha test managed to get 6,000 people simultaneously connected. (So I guess that’s a hint as to how many more people would be added?) Also the second alpha test you don’t have to buy something to participate like last time.

Oracle Mother Ship

In the same interview, Sakai dropped some hints about that ship tailing behind the Oracle fleet as you saw in the TGS trailer. It is the Oracle’s “Mother Ship“, though the existance of this ship is a mystery, we know this isn’t a place where there are people. This place is described as a “sacred area.”

(So is this ship used for sealing dark falz? This sounds like a final area to me.)

Project Cute

Project Cute is actually for Phantasy Star Universe, the concept behind it is to make original clothing with a “CUTE” theme. So Marie Wind マリー ウィンド is coming up next on October 27, 2011 within the GC Gachan.

Various colors are available too!

…I had forgotten they put in that FUN shop. wow, they really missed the point with it didn’t they. there’s like… absolutely nothing in there that’d motivate me to trade in weeks of the remote chance of getting a shop pass so I can de-bankrupt slightly.
