Playstation Network Maintenance

Due to the Playstation Network Maintenance, Maximum Attack Infinity will run from  6/1/2011 through 6/30/2011. The original scheduled date to reach God Hand’s 100% attribute has been pushed back by a day.

  • Schedule Changes
    • Event Finishes 6/30/2011
    • God Hand 100% Week Ends 6/9/2011 @ 13:00JST

Maximum Attack Infinity Event

Four new reward items will be given out instead of the Japanese Phantasy Star Universe weapons that were previously revealed.

The Comeback Campaign commemorates the restoration of the Playstation Network! Those who download the mission from June 1st, will receive special gifts! Starting from that date, the illustration contest winners will have their artwork displayed in the Visual Lobby!

During Maximum Attack Infinity, Type Points, Drops, EXP are doubled. Enemies are ferocious but their physical strength is slightly decreased.  Regardless of play skill, players will be allowed to become incapacitated without fear of mission failure during the general areas of the event thanks to the help by Hyuga and others. But watch out during the boss areas…

It appears the clear result grade will drop if you die too many times (not sure what the specific number is.) In each mission there will be a bonus area, one will open based on the number of enemies defeated as displayed on the official site. The other bonus block has a chance to appear as a rare block after the boss. I wonder what enemy makes an appearance here?

You can exchange various tickets you gathered in the mission to Hyuga for various items. Also for this event,  a certain man’s partner card could be obtained.

For those who can’t play online, this mission will be available for offline or ad-hoc multimode play sometime after the event is over.

God Hand (Knuckles) ゴッドハンド

Esperanza (Twin Saber) エスペランサ

Giga Phone (Machine Gun) ギガ・フォン

Komazali Rod (Rod) コウマヅリロッド

When players reach up to the target number of enemies killed, the reward weapon’s attribute will become 100%.  Even though the reward weapons are no longer 16star, please play Maximum Attack Infinity on Infinity Difficulty because you may be able to find some there.

This 16 star weapon is available in MAI’s hardest difficulty.

Rapico’s Partner Card

Currently undergoing investigation.
This space will update throughout the event.

Rapico has a chance to show up in Maximum Attack Infinity  in four distinct places. It appears she will show up in one out of each of these four areas. When you meet Rapico, she will give you ラピ子の幸運の羽根 Rapico’s Lucky Feathers, which you can use in General Merchant Rapico.

  • MAI I: First Stage Rapico’s Appearances:
    • In Block 1: Foie Turret Room, if you see a message when you approach the box in the center of the room.
    • In Block 2: At the T intersection: Where the boulder is with the 4 switches
    • In Block 2:  Before the Boss, there’s rubble on the floor near the back of the room. Examine it and destroy it.
    • Bonus Block: After the beginning jump, hidden near a pier.
  • MAI II: Second Stage Rapico’s Appearances:
    • 2nd Mines Area: At the south side, you may see a message capsule, if you examine it Rapico appears.
    • 1st Room Ruins Area: At the northern end of the room by a fence which is actually a hidden passageway.
    • 1st Room Ruins Area: She”ll just appear in a side room.
    • Bonus Block: She appears in the Forest Protectors area behind a rock [pic]

Heathcliff Flowen Partner Card

To obtain Heathcliff Flowen’s Partnercard, you must play Maximum Attack Infinity II, on Infinity Rank. During the mission, you must have less than 4 deaths by the entire party. By abiding by this rule, you’re guaranteed to get an S Grade clear result. After you defeat both bosses, Flowen should appear to give you his card.

 General Merchant Rapico

  • Name: General Merchant Rapico (ラピ子のなんでも屋さん)
  • Date: 6/1/2011
  • Access: Story Mode / Exchange Mission
  • Description: You can receive items from Rapico the salesclerk. Please take note about the number of items you are currently holding in personal storage, because Rapico will only hand them out once per account.

Rapico General Merchant has two distinct features, one being the Comeback Campaign, and the other being the Partner Card. Comeback Campaign is on an account basis, meaning only one account can receive 2x Extend Code and 2x Extend Code∞. Those who can’t play Internet Multimode can still receive the items. The Comeback Campaign is a permanent feature.

In regards to her Partner Card, you will need to trade 5 Rapico Feathers that you’ve obtained in Maximum Attack Infinity missions. You can get one for each character.

Unsure at this time, but this mission may update further in the future.

Next time On Maximum Attack Infinity

Next week starts Maximum Attack Infinity III and Curtz will be lending his support. This time the stage is mainly filled with machinery enemies, with some gimmicks along the way. Sakai suggests you set up your palette using lightning armor and ground weapons.

You should utilize good teamwork along the way because the route will eventually diverge into separate paths. You can clear these paths alone, but working together may be necessary to advance past the gimmicks.

Lightning Armor and Ground Weapons are essential!

Players must enter different zones as they are split from each other.
Even though you can do it solo, working together may be necessary.
Talk amongst your party on who takes what zone color.
The order in which you do these zones can be important too.

This time the Boss is Volna Gravka.

There have been several comments about either extending the event or making the event available to those who can’t change their password from the Playstation Network or register the game at the Playstation Store if they recently purchased it. Unfortunately people under these circumstances will just have to wait. As of Thursday, June 16, 2011, it is now possible to play Maximum Attack I and II on Multimode/adhoc while the event is on going.

Drop Mechanics

Mewn did a nice writeup at PSUPedia Forums regarding how PSP2′s drop system works. It is even expanded to include the way drops work for Infinity Missions. Specifically regarding Infinity Missions, the Japanese Wiki now lists enemy groups under the heading  “Monster Table モンスターテーブル.”

For the most part, they will write specifically what monster drops a weapon in an Infinity Mission. But at times, they will write something like “Parum Table-2″ which you’ll have to cross reference in the Infinity Mission Monster Tables.

For example: Floating Edges, a Twin Dagger drops: IM常夏(LV225-249) スタティリア系:テーブル2.

  • Definitions
    • IM常夏 Infinity Mission Summer (Beach Area)
    • スタティリア系: Stateria Type
    • テーブル2: Table 2

Specifically using that example, I can use this page to cross reference everything that drops under those conditions.

HOW TO CHANGE PASSWORD!?

Instead of using the PSP, Sign into the Playstation Network on the computer using your Japanese account email address and password. It will send you a message like the screenshot above informing you that the password reset instructions were sent to your email address. It can take up to 24 hours to receive this email.

Type in your new password, it must be at least 8 alphanumeric characters. Once you are done you can press the bottom button and leave the page.

Hello, this post outlines the details of Support Characters within Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. Dengeki recently released some intricate details on how Support Characters work. The post below is information that Shougai gathered mixed with Dengeki’s information.

What are Support Characters? Anytime you download another person’s characters, they are turned into Support Characters. In brief, Support Characters are your friends’ characters, and Partner Characters are NPCs like Emilia and Yuto.

Support Character Modifications

When you download someone else’s character and place them into your game several things transfer with them. However, characters undergo several stat changes which we’ll outline below.

The characters appearance, auto word, stats, rebirth values are transferred over. Their ATK and TEC power is lowered by 30%. Their HP increases by an unknown amount.

Photon arts are transferred over as well, but only PAs that are linked with the weapon. This transfer only applies to weapons that are currently in your friend’s palette.

Abilities are transferred over too but 25 specific ones are nullified.

If the friend character is wearing a DLC costume and the player has downloaded that particular outfit, then the friend character will wear that costume. Otherwise friend characters will wear a generic outfit upon transferring.

Weapons, line shield, units, are also transferred over.  Up to 6 weapons that are currently registered to the palette is transferred over.   Equipment set bonuses are applied with a corresponding line shield. DLC weapons are transferred with the character, but they don’t show up if the player doesn’t have it downloaded.  If a friend character does not have a wand currently equipped to their weapon palette, then the AI will forcibly equip a 1 star wand to them. This wand is automatically equipped with Resta.

As you know, your friend character’s level is the same as the player’s level. If their level is too low to equip a specific weapon, then the weapon is replaced  by a lower ranking substitute. Even if the weapon is replaced, the original weapon’s status effect and element is kept in tact. For example a 14 Star Spread Needle with paralysis is replaced by a 5 Star Shigga Amza with paralysis. Normally Shigga Amza has no paralysis attached.

Line Shields can transfer over too, so with careful planning you can utilize  their set bonuses effectively. However, only one line shield transfers with the character. When transferring, it will take the top (最上段) line shield currently registered to the palette.

As for units; only blast units and aura units transfer over with the character. Any stat modifier units like (infinite / Legs) or resist units like (Ice/Resist) become nullified upon transfer. (In this circumstance, a friend character will get hit with  status effects even though they were supposed to have a resist unit equipped.)

Support Character AI

Support Character AI runs on three fighting styles. It’s based on the ratio of weapons they have currently equipped. The three fighting styles are Striking, Ranged, and Force. For Example, Friend Characters with more melee weapons will choose the Striking fighting style. If a character has an equal amount of different weapons (2 in each of those three categories), then the AI style changes so that it will choose Striking > Ranged > Force. Simply, the AI will give more preference to the Striking fighting style than ranged or force.

Friend character’s AI will give low priority to shortcut orders and give higher priority to their AI fighting style. In contrast, Partner Characters (NPCs) will give Shortcut Orders higher preference. With this concept, Friend Characters give three specific shortcut orders extremely low priority to where they are almost negligible. The three shortcut orders are, Free, Attack Shift, and Shoot Site. Friend characters will indeed follow the other remaining shortcut orders.

Some abilities are nullified if equipped on a support character. These nullified abilities are mostly PP based abilities and we’ll explain why in a moment.

The following abilities do not exist on Friend Characters; PP boost, PP high boost, PP skill save, PP Bullet Save, PP Technic Save, PP Escape Save, PP Guard Save, PP restorate, PP aborption, Damage Convert PP, Technical Master, Sharp sniper, Burst bomber, Full burst bomber, Partnership*, Friend Defense*, Recovery boost, Recovery High Boost, Angel Breath, Auto Recovery Deadline and Half line, Escape Master, EXP Boost, Meseta Boost, Rare Item Boost.

It is pointless to transfer your character to a friend if you have any PP abilities currently equipped because all friend characters have infinite PP.

 Support Character Presents

Depending on the relationship you have with your friend character, they will give you Photon Arts disks based on your level as a mission clear reward. The highest cap for Photon Art disks appears to be LV 25. So as a Level 200 player, you have a chance to receive a LV23 ~ LV25 Photon Art Disk.

Through Friend Search, if you collect 10 characters of different genders and races you’ll have two bonuses applied. The first bonus increases your chance of getting a clear reward by 0.5% with each character and race you have stored in Friend Search. Since there are a total of 10 different genders and races you can collect, you can increase the likelihood to get a reward by a maximum of 5%. In addition, with all 10 characters collected, the PA disk you receive will increase 5 levels above the original number.
