AOL Removes Status and Unsend Button in WebMail
Two quick issues that have been reported this week but I didn’t get time to cover them completely.

AOL removed the unsend button in Webmail again.
Why were the Status and Unsend buttons Removed
The Status button and Unsend Button are now removed from the AOL Webmail. The AOL Mail blog reported that they had to remove these two features “because of the way these features were implemented, they were preventing us from achieving the best product performance”
Where can I find the Status and Unsend Buttons
They are still located in AOL Desktop and AOL 9.1

Mac has a new client at beta.aol.com
UNSEND is not available in Desktop 10.1, and, since upgrading to 10.1, I can no longer link my AIM account to 9.1, so UNSEND is not available to my AIM account at all anymore. SUCKS!!
I have windows XP and the Status button is there but the unsend button still does not appear. Is there something that I am doing wrong in order to view the unsend button.
You people really SUCK,,, Just when I needed it , I find out it is no longer an option…I’m pissed, because so is SHE……………………TY for nothing…
It seems they removed the Unsend button again..
I am getting so tired of AOL–no unsend button, no longer do addresses pop up automatically when you type the first couple of letters of an address–I am beginning to really hate your service
Ya, it was there, then they took it off, then after so many complaints they put it back on, then its off again..

way to remove the one good thing to use aol for email. AOL deserves the fate they have made for themselves.

Yep I am DONE with AOL.. Unsend feature was the ONLY reason why I put up with this pathetic service. I still paid for it too and for WHAT? Forget it. After over a decade they can keep it. We pay for a set of services and they decide to take them away anytime they feel like it…No notice. No other business could get away with this.
I have AOL desktop 9.1 and the UNSEND button is there, but you can’t even use the damn thing. At first I was like, Ok maybe it’s me and then I recently read they disabled it. I hope after all these complaints they will put it back, but if they don’t I’ll be dropping it just like everyone else who’s been rear ended. I’ve been a AOL member since they started for f’s sake!!!!
Teh ONLY reason I have kept AOL is because of the UNSEND BUTTON. AOL has run most horribly this past year but I have put up with it hoping they would get it straightened out. Well, now they took away the most valuable feature they had so if they do not reenable this feature, we’re all out of here. COME ON AOL! PUT IT BACK!
I also am really sick of AOL.. it runs so slow when it runs.. most of the time it just stops responding.. then you have to try to log out shout down your computer and start all over again.. AND now they have taken away the UNSEND feature.. this is just unacceptable for the amount of money you pay for using it!
I need the unsend button. That is only why I use AOL.
I too have been with aol through its many ups and downs and the only reason i stayed was the unsend button. That was all they had going for it. Now, in just a few short years, they change it. But it was not something they could advertise with… course as ppl dump them because they don’t have this feature… who cares about going to the website or definitely removing the program off the computer… it is just a waste of my computer resources. Just like they never brought back the websites of their ‘community’ they are not going to listen to the complaints. Be glad when their gone for good.
NO MATTER WHAT YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THEY DON’T LISTEN. A NUMBER OF US FROM A PARTICULAR CHAT ROOM TRIED TO GET A PARTICULAR PERSON BANNED.
SHE COULD GIVE SOMEONE A TOS AND THINK NUTTIN OF IT AND YOU COULDN’T USE THE SERVICE FOR 24 HOURS.
BUT YOU COULDN’T GIVE HER A TOS. WHY? SHE WAS A HOST ON AOL, AND HAD SOMEONE ON THE INSIDE.
I FINALLY FIGURED OUT A WAY TO GET BACK ON LINE REAL FAST BY USING A BACK UP PASSWORD. NO MORE TOS’. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL GET THE MESSAGE. BUT I AGREE WITH U.
Dag, why would AOL take away their best feature, the unsend button. I want it BACK!
Not only is the “unsend” gone, have you tried to check “status” of mail to another AOL person? You get strangers email addresses and their status instead.
Agree with other posters. We should be notified whenever AOL removes a feature we pay for! I like using the “unsend” button too. Haven’t had an issue with the “status” button yet. Wise up AOL, you’re driving away longtime loyal customers! Or don’t you care any longer?
What’s next to go? The send mail later option?

I now really hate AOL & have been a member from the start, when AOL for DOS became available. Now it really sucks.
I’ve stuck with AOL since 1997, even thru the days of busy signal dial-up. They seem intent upon making themselves ordinary. The unsend feature always kept me on AOL, and I’ve saved my butt with that feature many times. Their search engine has become so slow and quirky, I use Firefoc to search but always came back to AOL for mail beause of Unsend. Now… why bother
Unsend and Status were two of the reasons I’ve also remained with AOL. I’ve also noticed that there are times the the system won’t work just right – and when I used it later, something would’ve changed. One of the last things that occurred was that the special websites I’d added to my tool bar had disappeared. I had to find them again in order to put back where they were. AOL seems to be messing up on a regular basis and eliminating whatever they want even though we’re all paying premium prices to have those very things. Shame on AOL. Amazing that they can afford to keep losing customers.
I also am dissatisfied with AOL after having it for well over 15 years, it stops working and you have to log out of your computer, the site is sloooooooowwww, and I also am so disturbed that they are not allowing the unsend to be utilized, that is a wonderful feature…no wonder why they are loosing business…if this keeps on I will change also, and we pay enough to stay on this email site! They will loose more customers, get it right AOL and give us what we pay for!
I wanted to UNSEND an email and a pop up came saying it’s no longer available. AOL has been terrible lately yet like so many others I am sticking by it BUT slowly starting to rethink that decision. What exactly are we paying for?? What do we get different then a NON paying customer??
AOL bring back the UNSEND button and leave everything alone. Focus more on making AOL faster with less freezing up!

I am a long time member of AOL since like 1995 now using AOL 9.5 what we don’t have anymore Pictures, Hometown page, Spam, Unsend, Status & forthe free virus protection you have to download and send them information for it. I had enough of this BULL! These are the reasons I kept AOL all this time. Your service is still slow if I go on under Internet Explorer it make AOL look like a turtle on the search. Every thing has ads tagged to it. I had enough I refuse to pay for this anymore. It’s time to say GOOD-BYE to you AOL.

wtf…. first AOL took away the webpages we could make, then changed how we could do out profiles, now they are messing with our emails….what the heck are we paying for? I use AOL 9.5, and now I can’t unsend mail, and as of a few days ago, I can’t even check the status of sent email. Are they trying to put themselves out of business? I for one, am not going to continue paying for something that others get for free, since all of our “perks” have been taken away. MIght as well just use the free AIM at this point, because we (paying users) aren’t getting anymore then the free users are !!
well glad to hear your status button is working again KAren, but mine sure isn’t !! All of these AOL changes (without prior notice) is all getting to be too much. Alot of poeple keep AOL because of the size files you can send by email, and I hear that it is the next thing to go…if this is true…I am outta here !! I have much better things I can spend my money on!

Not to mention most of the email we get is spam! They pride themselves over their state of the art filters, but I still get hundreds of spam messages that go to my email page. I wouldn’t doubt it if AOL is getting paid to allow these people to send us crap like life insurance ads, sites where you can illegally buy prescription drugs and many others. I want to cancel ASAP!

They didn’t even warn us that their already crappy service is getting worse. I think we shold all pull together. Yahoo and hotmail are free. I don’t want AOL anymore. They’re too expensive and they’re dropping features? How dare they!
AOL sucks. They removed the UNSEND button and their spam filters are a joke as well. I’ll get 100 messages a day, and maybe 5 of them are legit. You have to wonder if AOL is letting people pay them to send their spam and not have it go into the folder. It’s a joke. I want to cancel ASAP!

I really liked the “unsend” button. Several times I sent out mail inadvertently to the wrong person and needed to unsend it immediately. It was a great feature I don’t understand why AOL took it away.

I have finished with AOL reason connection can be very frustrating what with not responding then been cut off aol encounter an error freezing is another complaint and the cost of calls to them is too much been a pensioner I can’t afford them.Today I had to turn my PC off three times before I got anywhere and then I got not responding and freezing AOL not as good as it used to be
