A very frequently asked question. Not that its hard to do but I guess people can’t find it? Anyways follow the steps below on how to get rid of Aim Dashboard:
Disable AIM Today or Aim Dashboard from Popping Up In Internet Explorer
- Open Aim 6.5
- Click Edit
- Click Settings
- Click Sign In / Sign Out
- Click None
- Click Save
Disable AIM From Starting When Windows Starts
- Open Aim 6.5
- Click Edit
- Click Settings
- Click Sign In/ Sign Out
- Uncheck Start Aim When Windows Starts
- Click Save
You’ll need to do this to each and every screen name you have on the Sign On screen as its different settings per screen name. And thats all there is to this. BYE!
The better question: How do you have it “minimize to system tray and DO sign in”? Inexplicably, the only option is to minimize without signing in. Crazy.
Thank you very much, usually I am computer savvy but this had me stumped. I hate stuff popping up like that. I know it should be an easy thing to figure out but thank god for people like you to make this clear!
Under IE - after aim pops up there is no settings under edit
On AIM buddy list there is edit preferences - but thats it - do I have to use the new sucky AIM to stop it from happening? I am about to uninstall AIM because everytime It launches IE it crASHES my puter
what version is this instruction for?
thx!!!
These instructions pertain to Aim 6.5.
I have 6.5 and there’s no "edit" button on this. What gives? I hate this program!!!!
The Edit Button is at the top of Aim 6.5
Again, WHERE is this elusive Edit button? Feel free to attach a screen print to lunadabay@ca.rr.com.
Lunadabay, look at the screenshots here, and you will see an edit button at the top .

Thanks for the Help text, but Edit, at least on IE 7, has no Settings option. Would you please respond to this post, and two previous, asking you to rewrite your instructions?
The instructions are for Aim 6.5 not Internet Explorer. So yes if you did look at the screenshot at the comment right above yours, you would see that I’m referring to Aim 6.5 and not Internet Explorer. Including the comment above that which does say, “The Edit Button is at the top of Aim 6.5″

I dont know what it is, but everytime i try to send someone a message. I am not able to see what the other person has typed or what i just typed. Please send me a message in reply to this on the mail.
I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about computers as well but I had trouble finding the setting. And here’s the reason: in finding the setting, one of the problems is that it’s not called "dashboard"; it’s termed AIM zones. When they use different terminology, one can be excused (I think) for missing it.
The term "Aim Zones" is a recent change. Aim Zones were meant to be Aim 6.9 only so I kept the term "Dashboard" for older clients.
i was trying it and i accidently did the first one, then the second one. I want this sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo offff my COMPUTER, IF I DONT IM GETTING IN HUGE TROUBLE
:(
HELP!!
thank you very much. that dashboard was annoying
