BumpXRed is a red and black skin for Aim 6.8. This skin pack also includes bumpxblue, bumpxgreen, and bumpxpink. Making it easier to download all skins at once.

Installation: OverWrite
WARNING: These Instructions will remove any custom skins. Please note you should always back up your files incase anything goes wrong.
1. Extract (and select Yes to Replace) themes.box at:
C:\program files\aim6\services\imApp\ver6_8_10_1\theme
2. Extract (and select Yes to Replace) blgadgets.box at:
C:\program files\aim6\services\imApp\ver6_8_10_1\content\bl
3. Extract “bumpxseries” folders at:
C:\program files\aim6\services\imApp\ver6_8_10_1\theme

how can i do aim 6.5 bumpxblue? i dont understand and dont know how do it. can u please help me?

Yeah, I followed every direction for the easy way twice. It didnt work either time. I then reinstalled the beta and tried the full directions. It still didnt work. Wtf is with that. Any idea? Is there some way I have to initialize it or something? I mean, I followed every direction to the T, started AIM and it still looks exactly the same. Please help.
You forgot to choose the skin in the color picker.

ok i did everything exactly and im assuming that im having the same problem as brendan had, which is choosing the skin in the color picker. where is that now? i know ill feel like a douche after someone tells me, but really, i cant figure this out.

heh I had the same problem as you, was rather stumped for about 10 minutes til I saw that little painters palette in the top right of the main AIM window

The background is an expression and does not come with the skin
do you know where i caould get some expressions like that, i was looking for a while last night because i hate the ones that AIM comes with

The expression is the one that AIM comes with when you click Edit > Expressions
Its a zip file and you have to extract it to the right folder which is C:\
I did..and I extracted it..and it said the same thing..
I extract the files to C:\ and i sign on AIM. I go to the color chooser and select pink but its just the regular AIM6.5 pink its not the BumpX skin…
whoops..regular pink..no red…**(typo..hehe)

I have AIM 6.5 the newest version. I downloaded the files and extraced them to C:\ but it wont work…
I need the whole 4 digit number because a new version of 6.5 came out already.

Click Help > About AIM in your AIM program. Not here. IF you have the wrong version of AIM then the skin won’t install.
ITS 6.5.7.20. so to get ur version do i have to get rid of mine and re install it? i reeally want that skin!! lol im such a loser
I tried downloading AIM 6.5.5.2..and it says its what im downloading..im finished downloading..and it says i downloaded 6.5.7.20…how do i download AIM 6.5.5.2.? can you please send me a link to it?
Ok Aim 6.5.7.20 is the newest version, If you can wait by the weekend, this skin will be updated for that version

I accidentally downloaded the extracted program files folder onto my desktop and now it wont let me delete it, how do i get rid of it?
What does it say when you delete Program Files from your desktop?

There is an EXE file so yes you can download it without the ZIP.
Hey Mike. I just tried out the skin and it looks awesome! I’ve got a few questions though. First, is there a way to customize the buddy list and buddy window backgrounds..? White is too plain for me. 2nd is: When I put the skin into the right folder, it seemed to work fine. But Aim kept quitting with no errors after about 1 minute of being started. Has anyone emailed you on this problem..? I just reinstalled AIM again and it seems to be working fine. The skin is not installed at the moment. I wonder if there is something wrong with the latest version..? Using 6.5.12.1 now, and tried using this skin. Thanks in advance!

installation that seems to work:
Install Aim
Close Aim ( If it’s running )
Install the skin
Open Aim
Choose your skin via the pallet.

I would like to use this skin… but I can’t. Is there some sort of way I can make this work with Aim v6.8?
I don’t know why AIM can’t make a red skin… It’s not like red is an unpopular color… -sigh-
The skins are compatible with Aim 6.8, however it has not yet been updated for that version. You can still install the skin though using the manual method outlined in Vista, and OSX skins. In a few weeks this will be updated for Aim 6.8 officially.
The BumpX skins are now updated for Aim 6.8, they feature some new minor details.

The instructions use Aim 6.8.10.1 although if you just change the folder name where it says ver6_8_10_1 and replace it with your version number ver6_8_8_4 then you would be able to install the skin there. You should manually go to that directory and not copy and paste the folder into Windows Explorer.
