Use AIM and MSN on your Cellphone without Paying for Text Messages

Verizon users read up! We finally have a site that allows us the freedom to use AIM, MSN, Gtalk, and Skype. It works perfectly on LGVX8300, just don’t try to edit your groups or you’ll get that insufficient memory crap.
How to Get AIM on your Cellphone for Free
Nimbuzz uses the WAP protocol so no text messages are needed and there is no need to download any applications. Now AT&T, Cingular, and T-Mobile users don’t really need to worry about this because they have applications already but if your still curious, here’s a list of how to access AIM, MSN, etc on your cellphone depending on your carrier.
Verizon Users
Verizon users need to have both America’s Choice Basic + VCast Vpack. If you have America’s Choice Select, or America’s Choice Premium, there is no need to read on. Select and Premium plans have unlimited Text Messages and you can use AIM from Get It NoW! for Free.
1. Open Verizon Wireless Mobile Web
2. Press Menu
3. Press Go to URL
4. Type Url: web.nimbuzz.com
5. Register and Login
6. Click Settings
7. Click Communities
8. Choose your Community and enter Login Information!
T-Mobile Users
T-mobile Users, can either use AIM from their cellphone’s desktop or use T-Mobile branded AIM through T-zones. If you have unlimited text messages you do not need to use Tzones Aim as it is much slower and painful to use. If you have unlimited T-Zones you can also MSN Method
For AIM
1. Press Tzones
2. Type AIM in Search Box
3. Press AIM and Sign In!
For MSN
1. Go to http://www.nimbuzz.com/en/getstarted/mobile/
2. Enter your Cellphone
3. Send Link to Download Java App
AT&T iPhone Users
Its odd how iPhone users get the least crippled software on their phones. iPhone users have a variety of choices to use but the most popular one right now is TinyBuddy, it works only for iPhone.

2. Type URL: http://x.aim.com/ty/
3. Sign in!
The Alternatives
Ebuddy and E-Messenger are the only major alternatives for Wap aim.

Looking for a tech-savvy person who can answer some questions about getting mobile AIM…
I have a weird problem: I bought an unlocked unbranded RAZR v3i. It didn’t come with mobile AIM installed. I am also using TMobile prepaid at the moment. It does allow me to text message, but doesn’t allow web access except for T-Zones on prepaid.
First, I can’t even find a download-to-PC or mobile for mobile AIM anywhere.
Second, on the alternatives list here, ebuddy sounds like it would work for me, but how can I get it if the only way to get it is with a T-Zones limited internet on the phone? I can’t key in an url name other than t-zones url. YET, Tmobile ALLOWS the use of AIM even on a prepaid account- for free… if I could just find a way to locate the program, and install it via PC to phone.
I think this might be hopeless… but, I’ve been searching for help on the web for a couple days now and finding nothing to point me in the right direction.

Tmobile does not have a program to download AIM, since TMobile preinstalls AIM on its cellphones. You’ll have to find a Java Midlet Application that can access the web and use AIM.
You need UNLIMITED Tzones access to be able to use Ebuddy and NimBuzz, you’ll also need unlimited Tzones to be able to download the Jar Application to your phone.
That didn’t surprise me, about Tmobile- what did surprise me was that there isn’t an installation page for mobile AIM anywhere- even on AOL!
Anyway… thanks for the above info… I may be able to get unlimited Tzones for a fee on prepaid. I’ll have to check that out first.
Re: a Java Midlet… 1) do you know of any, and 2) do they come with installation instructions?
I did get something called MotorolaMidletsManager off the web the other day, in case I need it someday, but I don’t know how to use it yet to install midlets. I would need a step-by-step list of how to get it onto the phone… I’m not yet familiar with jars and jads- the how-to-do-its!

You can start searching in Google for J2ME IM Apps or J2ME Instant Messaging Apps. Most cost money, some you might be able to find. J2ME is the java application that you can run on your phone. It comes as a “jar” file. If you don’t have a data cable, click on “how to download Games on your cellphone without a data cable” which will show you the steps on how to download it. Its right below the comments section
so $20 dollars a month plan thing which is unlimted txting counts as mobile IM’s?
Mobile IMs using Verizon’s AIM application counts as text messages. Its 1 text to sign on, 1 text to get buddy list, and 1 text to sign off, in addition to 1 text per IM sent and 1text per IM received. If your on unlimited texting plan you have nothing to worry about.
Text to 246246 and sign in to aim! Its free and you dont download anything. Its like aim-texting. I have aim on my phone but i like this way better. Good luck.
You’ll still be charged for texting if you do that, unless you have an unlimited texting plan.
So, how would someone who uses US cellular (a non-popular service) have a way to message MSN users from a cell phone?
I can use my texting, and text to people on AIM, as well as I can on MSN, but I can also check my AIM, and log in, over text. Is there a way I could do this for msn too?

I couldn’t find any MSN text access, but If your cellphone supports mobile internet or otherwise known as WAP, you can use messenger from there by going to mobile.msn.com
To WBMIKE: So if I use mobile internet (WIFI) to log into MSN, it will be free to use?
