3 Easy Steps to Avoid Myspace Viruses

 LogoDotcom.jpg

Follow these 3 Easy Steps to avoid the viruses and scams on MySpace

Don’t Click links in Bulletins and Inbox

Very easy to follow, most of the time spammers hijack a profile and send links in bulletins everytime telling you to get this or add that. Spammers know minorities can’t resist the lure of free ringtones, they know girls can’t resist adding this cool person they found the other day, they know teenagers can’t resist adult pictures…

Don’t install Programs to View a Profile

Yes all those profiles telling you that you need to install Free Myspace Viewer, or Adult Myspace Viewer, or Funny Video powered by Zango, just avoid them. I don’t care if it has a picture of Tom on it, or a picture of the Myspace Logo, don’t install it.

Login from Myspace.com Only

If you ever see a login page, just type myspace.com in your browser and login from there. Never login from another page other than that. Why? Because there are people making profiles that look exactly like login pages, and some do say "myspace.com/loginhtml" at the top, so if your ever suddenly signed out, just go straight to myspace.com. Also with the new quicktime redirection exploit, they could send you to any page made exactly like the login area of myspace.com

It took one day for me to be entirely lost in the crazy amount of stuff AIM has added. The major release was the Aim 6.0 client, which some have recommended it, while others find it unimpressive. Well I have already talked about Aim 6.0 before so lets move onto the new..

Spyware? In My Vista?

By WBMike  //  Microsoft, Vista  //  No Comments

It may be less likely than you think! Its up for debate whether Windows Vista will be the most secure Windows OS ever to market. The same thing was said for Windows XP, and look what happened, first we had the Messenger popups, then the Blaster worm, then we all had to go to SP1, then we had to jump ship to SP2, then we had VML and other things floating around, and now we’re forced (by user interaction) to go to IE7. So its been stormy seas in XP land, while MAC heads jump around feeling secure.. (MACs your day will come!) So… Betanews posted an interesting article where they were misquoted for misquoting a quote which in summary stated, "Windows Vista will not need antivirus" (GASP) What?? How is that possible, could you imagine a world where we don’t need to buy Mcaffee to slow down our systems, and we don’t need Norton hogging all system resources, and we don’t have to pay a subscription fee ontop of buying AV software for $50. Think of all the money that would be saved! The security behind Windows Vista is its User Access Control. The very annoying popup that would come up if you did anything risqué like install a program. It even lets Windows XP programs think they are actually writing to the registry but instead its just a virtual look a like for compatability reasons. So all new users will be under UAC, and it should be good enough to prevent little johnny from downloading coolgames.exe.

Myspace ??? ?

By WBMike  //  Myspace  //  1 Comment

nihonmyspace_1.jpg

Myspace?????????A few days ago Myspace and SoftBank kicked off the launching of Myspace Japan. Myspace claims it has many japanese users already, so this localization attempt will make it easier for users who don’t speak english to enter into the fold. Myspace Japan can be reached by jp.myspace.com once that happens a cookie is set so that when you type myspace.com you will start to see it in Japanese. For the people who really don’t know what they are doing, you get stuck with the myspace login page and everything is Japanese. It would have been nice if they left jp.myspace.com as japanese only. To reset this cookie just click the International button and you can set your localization to the other fun areas across the globe.
