Aim Buddy Info Updates
Want to remove or delete Buddy Updates from AIM Buddy Info?

Aim 6 has a new feature called Buddy Updates. They are displayed below your buddy info profile and enable you to insert RSS feeds to display links in your profile. The product seems to be a bit buggy on the server end, sometimes its up and sometime I get, “400 Bad Request” error messages. Aside from these quirks the only major problems client wise is that the Myspace feed didn’t show up in the Updates. I had to add it manually just to get it to work right. So, if your a startup or just trying to steer traffic to your site, these little feeds come in handy.

I have the new 6.0 AIM. Since I upgraded, I can not see “buddy comments” that I stored in previous versions.
Am I missing something or did they remove this much used function?
It was removed so you have to use Aim 5.9
Or you can use Aim 6.0′s nickname feature instead.
Thank you. So my guess is even if I revert back to 5.9, all my “comments” will be lost won’t they?
As long as you didn’t delete Aim 5.9 your comments should be stored. Aim 5.9 is still installed, Aim 6.0 did not overwrite it.
Thank you, I was promted to upgrade one day when I signed on, so I didn’t delete anything and I just assumed 6.0 over wrote it.

how do you remove items so people who view your profile can’t see your updates??

Type CLICK HERE, highlight the text, click the LINK button and type your link

No but you can turn off sending out updates

Hey my buddy updates yellow icon shows up on my buddy list but on the side of the profiles there is no side panel with the updates.. how do I fix this?

As long as you upgrade to the latest version of Aim 6.5 and you DO NOT do any of the following steps posted in this article then you should not receive the buddy updates box.

I hate that ‘Buddy Update’ feature. The grey box on my profile is an eyesore. I want it GONE! It was not there a few weeks ago. Now it is. I have gone to settings and the box is unchecked that either allows you to see it or not. But it still is there. Gezzz I can’t even change something in my account without it announcing that I just updated my profile 1 sec ago. Who cares? To me that is an invasion of privacy. I don’t like the fact that someone knows every move I make on my profile, and every single sec that I do it. I feel exposed! Get rid of the feature! Or at least fix it so that it works when you check the option not to show the Buddy Updates. Big ‘whoopty do’ if I correct a misspelled word. It spreads all over the internet…ATTENTION JANICE HAS UPDATED HER PROFILE 1 SEC. AGO. GO SEE IF YOU CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS.
How ridiculous. Really I hate the thing…it reminds me of the Media…in everyones business…how annoying. Please do something about it…….

if you dont do anything whith your aim profile for a couple of days the buddy updates in your buddy info will go away.
i hate the stupid update thing in my profile!!!!!!! i want it to go away but ppl are always adding me so its there. i sent out the invites to my friends and now i dont want them there anymore. i hate the stupid idea of it all. i hate it soooooooo much!!!

yeah diddo that. I never even use my aim pro, I accepted a request of some nature because i kept getting an IM window saying "so and suchh added you as a freind" so I clicked it to get rid of it and now my buddy info looks stupid. I’ve read like 100000000 blogs trying to see what to do. Thanksss everyone, I hope the 5days thing works. This website helped ALOT! and AOL, if your going to add a feature make it more flexible in regards to it being OPTIONAL
Yeah that AIM Buddy Update is quite an annoying fucking eye sore shit better go away in 5 days… Kinda does feel like invasion of privacy -_-… jesus christ i did everything i could to try and remove it too its just fuckin frustrating i don’t know why making me smoke cigarettes lol
It’s ridiculous. We should all report it as a bug to AIM, maybe they’ll get the hint. It’s so stupid and ugly and adds clutter to one’s profile.

That page also says it takes several days/weeks before the updates disappear. Are you getting New updates that appeared after you deleted everything that was listed there?
this box is VERY irratating and NEEDS to get out of my aim info!!! its rediculous that theres NO possible option on how to remove it!!!

the only ‘updates’ that really show up are the changes i make to my aim profile (not buddy info). but it’s still annoying lol.
So your saying every other change (excluding AIMShare) won’t show up in the buddy updates box?

would you know why it’s doing that?
It seems this is a bug that only AOL can fix. They need to change it so that AIM Profiles detects your buddy updates page and checks to see if it should post a message to your buddy updates feed. In the mean time the only workaround would be to not use AIM profiles at all, including adding friends, adding pictures, and comments.
ah, that really sucks =\ well i barely use that anyways, so it’s not that big of a problem. it’s just annoying that i have to wait five days till it’s deleted from my profile, oh well. i’ll keep looking back here to see if there’s any updates about this bug. thanks though!

The bug only deals with profiles.aim.com. So yes if you change any part of your profile at profiles.aim.com, then the buddy update will show up again. If you want it to disappear, you need to stop using the profiles.aim.com until AOL fixes this. After 5 days the buddy update will disappear.
which aim is it, that you can check buddy info, not only present away messages but previous are listed as well??
