PSO2 July 13th 2012 Special Maintenance
On July 13th, PSO2 will undergo Emergency Maintenance.
Maintenance Schedule:
- July 13th, 1:00 PM ~ 6:00 PM JST
- July 13th, 12:00 AM ~ 5:00 AM EDT
- Other Time Zones
That is tonight at 12:00 AM Eastern!
- To address the cheating that changed the NPC locations in Ship 2 and Ship 9.
Sega is pushing forward preparations to correct this problem through a special maintenance on July 13th, 2012. They have already rebooted the affected blocks and banned the cheaters. However this problem may surely happen again unless they perform a Special Maintenance. They have confirmed on Ship 9 that several NPC locations have suddenly changed. If you are playing a block and notice the NPCs are not in their correct locations, please move to another block immediately.

So, this is the third maintenance downtime since the official release, which was only like a week ago.
…I don't think they were quite ready for an official release when they decided to release it.

These hackers they are so stupid, people can have history reports of you hacking. How stupid can these wackos get?

@Tejan: What they weren't ready for was the heavy server load. They didn't anticipate such an influx of new players. You also can't count hackers and weekly maintenance against that tally, which means the only Maintenance you can count against them is The one emergency maintenance from last week. Even then, so what? You're going to say the game wasn't ready for a version 1 because more people are playing than they thought? it's not like the game is riddled with bugs and they're having to go back and fix them all. I suppose you'd rather they never did maintenance and let everything fall apart?

@Nilok: There have been publicly released hacks since the Closed Beta, that if they still work, they'd be the cause of the recent hacks. So it's completely possible that they could have fixed that in one of the many patches prior to now in when people went too far with them.
Also, the only difference I've noticed since CBT to now is the addition of new items and areas. I don't believe there's been any huge bug fixes or skill balances (Well aside from the Jellen Bullet nerf, I can't see anything else.).
I can forgive the server going down due to server load issues, even Diablo 3 had that issue and I'm all for maintenance, but when the server is down this much in the course of one week it's a wee bit ridiculous, no?
Also, weekly maintenance isn't a normal thing for games. In the past few years of playing video games I've not once run into a game that went offline once a week for 6 hours.
The game is well made and everything I could wish for in a PSO sequel, but Sega just isn't handling the game efficiently. All the issues they're having could be fixed with better planning or more attention to the game and it's community.

From what I've heard about ship 2, I'm not too surprised people screwed it over already.

And once again hackers proving to be dicks of gaming. I really hope we don't get any IP bans.

weekly maintenance is standard on games like this. The thing is they usually do the maintenance during hours where there's very little activity so as not to disturb the players. Thing is we're playing on a server that's 13-16 hours ahead of us. so their slow hours end up being our peak hours. Doesn't make them ill prepared. One regularly scheduled maintenance, one emergency maintenance for server load and one emergency maintenance to address an issue with hackers is not the end of the world. yeah it sucks that it just happens to be at the time I get home from work, but I realize that it's part of playing a game with servers overseas and I accept the fact that we are a minority that should not take exception to being inconvenienced (because that's all this is) for the sake of the majority.
If you feel like these maintenance are really a sign of the end of times or something to that tune, it might not be such a bad idea to go outside more often.

@Tejan: ” I’ve not once run into a game that went offline once a week for 6 hours.”
I think you don’t play online games them, because I know lots of online games that does it.

@Tejan ADD much? you mention Diablo 3 and that same game went offline for 27 friggin hours after launch, and then subsequently 12 more times for over several reasons during the first week post launch.
If anything, PSO2 is well within the reasoning margin.

Just mentioning Diablo 3 in anything to do with server uptime in the first week's of a launch is laughable imo – the game that even when it was actually online was unplayable 'if' you were lucky to log in.
Iirc, pso2 has had 5-6 server downtimes since open beta, some of them were 27 hours but that was understandable, the new server updates being able to handle all 10 ships at near max capacity without any lag have been awesome.
I really cant see how you can complain about a free game (unless you buy ac ofc) having some downtime every few days whilst all the bugs and small updates are being hammered out – hackers or no hackers its going to happen

Free game is free and you complain about down time.

Not free for all of us. Some of us are paying premium.

free to "pay" isn't really free, is it? this f2p model give their game more accessibility and study shows ppl willing to spent money buying virtual good more than paying for subscription fee. so we, customers(pay or not) have a right to complain.
btw they can change to subscription model if they want but they don't cuz this f2p model usually more profitable.

You're not willing to give the developers money and you have a right to complain? you're not a customer, you're a leech. Last I checked, parasites weren't allowed that luxury. The only thing you're allowed to say is you dont think the AC shop's items are worth the money. Trying to pretend that minor down time is the reason you're not supporting the developers is sick.

leech? ya whatever u say but let me ask u this. how many p2p game change their model to f2p? why? cuz less players lead to lesser players. no mmo player like ghost town or else they would play console game by themselves, won't they?
so if all the leeches have gone? what will happen? how long ur so call "willing to give developer money" customers still keep playing?
and u right. i think cash shop is too expensive especially gachapon(btw another good reason to have us leech so u can sell crap from cash shop u don't want to for in-game money) and i never said down time is my reason but again this is a little too frequent and(so many and..) the one who complain here isn't all "leech". i only state the reason why i think leech has a say too.

u mention the reasons. i'll list it down some of the reasons more than of my team/guildmates still being a leech(team of 30ish ppl).
1. when the english ver. come out. we'll be force to start all over from scratch(ip block w/o opportunity to move over).
2. it's too expensive. 1 month premium = 5-6 good meals here where i'm from(SEA). if the price drop like 20+% i might reconsider. around 1000 ac for 1 month premium and more inventory for premium 300 is too small.
3. no paypal… not everybody has credit card. there r other ways but they charge extra 7-10%.
for me what u said is right. im a leech, a cheapskate. my reason is i bore quite easily so i never stick to any game for too long. im still looking for mmo with story line cuz w/o that it's all just grinding. if only secret world has this game character creation and combat system then im there.
