Ruins in November

The ruins area is arriving in November with the Zeshreida boss. But you can experience this first hand by attending the offline event “Arks Party”. Eight teams in total will compete for prizes at the Space Create BIGBOX Takadanobaba in Tokyo.

Well, not first hand – Ruins free field was playable during the TGS together with the boss.

Sadly, it was really strong and I wasn't able to beat it together with my 3 random teammates…

Well then, perhaps is this good news for those who believe there is no challenge in PSO2.

Time will tell.

Firsthand meaning: firsthand account, like direct from the source, not so much the first to play it.

@DriftingFable I don't think it's so much as a challenge as it is people probably not being able to work together well. When you see most people do boss runs and whatnot together, it tends to be with friends/teammates so we have a better understanding of what to expect from each other. With random people, you've got no clue what they're going to do so it's less "cookie cutter here's what we do" and more "think on the fly and hope things work out".

so what you're saying is that there -is- a challenge, but it's one that you'll face only if you're not working with a party that works together well.

From what I saw that's more or less it -Z-. Some people may have problems with it, but for the most part the only thing that I saw that made the fight difficult was lack of teamwork and fail dodging.

anyone have any idea where we can buy that book?

difficulty issues on this game comes mostly from the fact that Sega is attempting to make the game "harder" by simply increasing the stats on enemies…which would work, if this game was PSU or PSO, where engaging some enemy types pretty much ensured you were going to take damage.

New bosses are going to be difficult UNTIL people learn their patterns, and then the perfect blocking / dodging will become second nature. And seeing as both enemies and bosses alike are identical throughout Normal —> Very Hard, it isn't hard to see why people get bored.

is that before or after they powergrind to cap and wonder why a young game isn't OMG ENDGAME CONTENT? :P

@-Z-

Well…

Last time i logged off there were barely any 42 players in the game and we're dropping the highest bosses we can fight (including bosses like Hollow Corpse Ragne and boosted Varder) just as fast as before, if not drastically faster thanks to Subclasses and lv11 discs.

It doesn't really matter what level you are, none of the enemies in this game are difficult because they havent changed at all in 50 levels worth of content :O

I find it funny that some people seem to think stats are the reason these bosses aren't an issue. Stats only make things die faster or slower, but a good gamer is able to recognize patterns and learn from previous engagements. You learn a boss' tells, how many times they'll attack in a row, learn safe angles to attack from and the best methods to hit critical areas. Once you learn all that stuff, bosses go from "OMG, I hate fighting him" to "Watch how I style on this guy" to "hey remember when this was hard?" to finally "When are we going to get more content? I'm sick of fighting this guy."

This is the nature of games. Look as far back as games like donkey kong. it all appears random at first but the longer you play, the more you see patterns and soon you know where every barrel is going to be. So before you hate on people and say their gear or their level is all that separates you and them, look at the way they play.

I've already put over a thousand hours into this game. Last night I was soloing F Continent and went to fight quartz thinking "this is going to suck". I ended up getting hit once, cause I made a mistake in my timing for my dodge, but while 4 levels under him, I killed him in just over a minute using the same gear I've been using since I was level 15. It's not about your equipment, it's all about memorization, recall and timing. Better gear only makes the fight go faster.

@Nilok

Speaking into deaf ears imo. People seem to get touchy at the notion of this game actually improving itself. And sega (SEEMS as of right now) content on making every update as minimalist as possible. The two new modes (Hard/Vhard), every boss, every rare enemy, every Lv11+ disc and technique, every weapon (regardless of rarity) everything in this game is nothing but a "number increase". Even in Very Hard mode, the only one thing to change about the stages are the stats of the enemies.

But alas, nobody complains, and anyone who does gets thrown a bunch of random nonsense about "too hard", "e-peen" or something else that has no correlation. And since the players dont request any new content, Sega doesn't bother with it.

Mark my words, before the level 70 cap is reached, even the most excited new players will be bored with this game. I know because I was one of them, and I can't even find a reason to log on anymore.

Even with the new mode and rare enemies, there isn't anything we havent murdered a million times and have programmed into our muscle memory already.

@seraph ya i'm just taking a break from pso2. i log on for fun, but i'll chill until something interesting comes out.

i still hold by my idea that there should be hard mode+ or normal mode+, where mobs attack ~1.5-2x faster and are more aggressive, but give more exp and meseta/higher drop rate. and the stats of mobs do not change.

that way, people can practice to get better on the regular normal/hard mode, and then they can enter normal/hard mode+ when they feel more confident.

i was super sad when they nerfed the panther bros. they attack so slow now, and they're less aggressive. they're a joke now, but they were actually really intense and fun to fight when they just got released.

i'll probably get back into pso2 once ruins comes around, but i'll be upset if ruins is very hard mode only, and it's got some dumbass lvl 47 requirement lool.

@weeaboo

Yeah im not even playing anymore until Ruins. There's just no motivation to level anymore. The Vhard enemies aren't harder and neither are the bosses. In PSO the weapons had unique traits as early as the Hard Mode rares, and in PSO2 we're already at 10* and nothing is unique. Just more stupid damage numbers.

So i guess i just have nothing to look forward to anymore. Techniques didn't evolve at lv11 for my force and PAs dont look any neater either. Rare weapons are all just model swaps with no unique traits, so i dont look forward to hunting any 8*, 9* or even 10* weapons. This game has just gotten boring. When the ruins come out, everyone will flock there, play it to death, and it'll become the new Skyland. Normal, Hard and Very Hard mode will be no different from eachother, and so i'll get bored of that one too.

The fun of PSO for everyone was hunting for cool unique rares so you'll be able to take on the harder enemies in the higher modes. The game got significantly stronger but i dont remember anyone EVER complaining. Thats what 4 player parties are for. We have 12 person parties in this game and even in the 4-player parties, the hardest thing that can happen to anyone is a Code Avoid.

Im just bored, it feels like i've been playing on Normal Mode for 200+ hours. Even PSU didn't get boring this fast.
