34 thoughts on “PSO2 JP: Extended Maintenance and Patch (3/8/2017)

  1. Is it only me or joigning the servers have been a pain these last hours? Near Boiterous Day EQ i’ve been disconnected and impossible to join again after that – I’ve tried three or four times in half an hour. I chould choose my Ship, then enter my password and stayed on a screen without anything when I normally have to choose the character to play with.

I guess maybe they’re already implementing their new content to the servers right now but wow. They hope players will accept the risk to be banned for being 630 too much times if it’s servers’ fault…?

    1. It pretty much is the server’s fault at this point, you know when the eq is about to begin and everyone is pushing and shoving at the counter? The menus really start to slow down and stuff and I’m hell as sure its not my end! The game is very stressed server side by everyone trying to get into those first 12/12 MPAs. Sometimes I may 630 trying to access the drink menu as this is still going on outside if I am in a campship prior to the eq starting and load from there then get my drink after taking the EQ. The drink terminal is a point of failure with the server during high activity.

    2. I’ve never had problems with Drink counter, with the nurse Natasha or in the Campship… And the servers were telling the status was normal, not “busy” or “full” or else.
I remember reading they make extended maintenance to give time to people to update ’cause updates make servers slower or something like that so I guess that’s the problem (but damn I wanted to complete a CO from Xie, now that’s too late ._.) so I hope it will better after Maint..

Ah that feeling when everyone is trying to access Annelise or Rebecca and makes the loading think you’ll be off… But if you accept quests from Casino or Franca’s Cafe you may be more safe too. Loadings are pretty faster in that places for me. 🙂

    3. Are you on the proxy? I heard that disconnections are more likely on the proxy. That, and yeah, because of it, they’re doing this extended maintenance.

I’ve never really used the proxy and I’ve pretty much never even seen this 630 error most people have talked about getting. Also, are you getting this during the EQ or before the EQ starts, because of it’s the latter, there shouldn’t be any concerns whatsoever of being banned.

If the problem continues to happen while joining, try setting up your quest and whatnot in Franka’s Cafe or the Casino so you don’t experience the Quest Counter Crash Derby.

    4. I’ve never used the proxy or VPN (except DDOS time). I can also blame my network not so good these times, I can’t deny it but at this point, Or I have the most shittiest connexion evern or the servers had “problems” (I still have a good network the rest of the times).

And yes when it’s too slow to load the rest of the times I go to the Casino to do my Quests. This and the Café are probably the fastest zones to load in the Ship.. ^^

  2. Is there any way to get more Weapons Badge 2017? I did that quest once after update but i think i didn’t get a badge at the end of the quest. Also I can’t seem to find that quest anymore.

    1. I’m not really sure what you’re talking about when you say ‘that quest’, but-

There’s a new Level Up quest right now that’s been plopped into the Featured Quests/おすすめクエスト tab as the fourth quest on the list, and it’s said that it awards Weapon Badge 2017s. Boisterous White Day is also still running, so I’m pretty sure that also still awards badges but I haven’t checked, personally.

    2. Damn, don’t know what to tell you.

It’s only what I’ve read about and I’ve stopped collecting badges for the time being, maybe some others who are still collecting know.

    3. If you do Chaotic Roar of the Dragon or other Level-Up Quests under the Featured Quest lineup, you’ll get [Weapons Badge 2017] if you clear it on SH or XH difficulty.

Keep in mind that not all Featured Quests are classified as a “Level-Up Quest”

  3. this pvp is unplayable as is, sword is too op, huge lag that makes blocking or evading next to impossible… pso2’s netcode was made for pve, not for pvp…

    1. Or, y’know, the fact that it JUST CAME OUT. They’ve already taken the cross ship down multiple times to work on it. It’s buggy, which is to be expected.

    2. Some one really loves accepting to eat Sega’s crap here.

Doesn’t help most games don’t have their PVP come out this broken. Me thinks they do something called proper testing. Especially with a beta.

    3. Yeah, and you’re SUCH a roughneck rebel self-righteously whining about it to people who have nothing to do with it in a forum nobody relevant will ever read.

      Vive la Resistance!

    4. Considering that half the time, people are teleporting everywhere and awkwardly jittering in the main game outside of the PVP, I’m surprised it works as well as it does. I thought it was going to be a whole lot worse.

I would hardly call it broken, either. The only thing that really needs fixing on my end seems to be that sometimes swords and Megid will hit me before I can see it. Everything outside of those instances responds pretty much perfectly. And even then, it just requires some preemptive evasion.

While you call us people who are willing to eat Sega’s crap, you seem to enjoy crapping on Sega for bringing us yet another way to enjoy PSO2, and it’s pretty damn fun if you ask me.

On top of that, I don’t reckon that you play within Japan, do you?

    5. Yeah man, shame they can’t make a PROPER PVP that allows foreigners to have below 100 ping.

      Wake up sheeple!

    6. the lag you call as a bug comes from the bad netcode…
pso2’s netcode prefers pve battle and the data sent by the client, thats why you dont die when lagging hard in pve, just jump around… pvp works the other way, server predicts everything sent by the clients and then sends back the correct data… thats how pvp netcode works, but its not too good for laggy pve

    7. Surely you would prefer lockstep solution instead, where time for all people on either side will completely freeze, until one dying Brazilian router decides to send the packets back to server, then the picture will fast forward with speed proportional to the time lost.

Though I’m ready for wave of stupidity where people that are unable to play well even games on their localized servers will mass blame PSO2 for not handling their connection better.

    8. current net also crippling main ship runs

you see damage from mpa registering, items dropping, exp, and mobs dead
but you can’t put any input (damage, pick up, menus)

  4. So after the new patch, when i play the game all my items are in japanese now. Everything else is in english. Can someone help me?

    1. Try re-installing the english patches, or try pressing ctrl+f1 (this toggles item translation on/off) and refreshing your inventory to see if the names appear in English again.

  5. Really love the new Bonus Quest. Worries about the exp being bad are thankfully not true, it’s somewhere between the Tokyo Silver and Gold if you get all the way through.

But it’s so much more than simple exp. It’s not only a great place for some quick ring materials and 12* eggs(Love whoever came up with the idea to include those), but it’s more than likely an intentional teaching tool. It will be very easy to clear at low level, but as you level up, it will require the player to put forth the effort to clear it intelligently(yeah, I know people can still gurren it, but nothing is perfect tbh…and Gurren is a problem on it’s own rank anyway). It will make new players slowly aware that they can’t just keep using the same gear and simple strategies if they wanna clear it in time. In this regard, it’s a nice, simple, and non-intrusive teaching tool without being presented as such. And it’s positive reinforcement over negative, giving the player something good for trying instead of keeping the player away from something for failing to do so. Granted, we still need some of that, but that exact thing is coming up anyway :U

If it wasn’t for the PVP, I would give this update a 10/10

  6. So, after a painful update I logged and all my keyboard/controller settings were reset to original an in 3-buttons (I stayed 2-B since then). Is there someone else in the same case?

I don’t even know how to put it back to 2-B or if it’s even possible but I’ll have to ckeck it…

    1. I’ve experienced that several times before. I feel your pain. You should be able to switch from 3 back to 2; i dont see why not.
