Destroyer of HIstory: Ruins, ExCube, and Photon Drop Shop Arrive November 7th to Phantasy Star Online 2
The ruins were recently discovered beyond the tundra of Planet Naberius. Originally it was thought there were no previous civilizations on Naberius, but with this discovery, we see strange facilities left behind. A fierce battle awaits in the ruins where a multitude of Darkers reside.
To challenge this area, you must be level 25 or higher!
Infected Grim Monolith
When Grim Monoliths are infected by Darkers, it will increase their power.

Photon Drops shouldn't be a problem but the EXcube system gives you "several" of them once you "level up" after the cap. I'm assuming it's ten per level up.

If the Ruins is as challenging as they're making it out to be, my Defense build may prove to be invaluable there.
Since the shop items appear to be finalized, I guess all that waits is to see what the final number of EXCubes per 'level' is. Those Rare Drop Boosters look mighty nice.

@Clotho from what I've experienced during the TGS, the new enemies in the Ruins aren't very hard, but the boss will probably be problematic at first…

@Clotho Buer
They make every area out to be somewhat challenging, but after about a day or two the community will probably 20-second every boss again.
PD items are all more rate boosters and mag items… our spectulation on being helpful to those who are unlucky was pretty off.
EXCube seems to be a nice thing, but seeing as it takes multiple million EXP to achieve 1 class level around lv50 i wonder how useful it'll be to casuals.

surprised people still play this game. love it to death but COME THE FUCK ON! do I really need to grind for new content? why the fuck is each level cap and new class a client order I need to spend 1hr+ to unlock? soooo I have to grind like a motherfucker to get to cap, then grind AGAIN a client order to unlock the ability to grind AGAIN for the next cap?
come on SEGA!

Its the state of Free 2 Play games. I'm hoping for an Ad-hoc PSVita game in the future.

are you kiddin'? it's the state of games in general. I'd rather be glad they aren't trying to pull a blizz and expect us all to buy every major content update for a stupid price on top of demanding a monthly fee.

you only win when you start playing the game for fun and you don't get sucked into playing it like a job. was really easy when i had summer vaca to just burn hours on end on this game but i got so much going on when i play pso2 after like 30 minutes i start thinking to myself
"lol damn. this isn't worth it."

The reason the Grind is so terrible is because PSO2 does not reward you for your time.
VHard mode is a joke just like Hard mode was, all of the rare weapons are disappointments as they have no unique traits or abilities like PSO had, Enemies dont change, Bosses dont change, weapons dont change, 11+ techniques dont change, everything stays the same.
This game just isn't growing the way it should. PSO2 is so focused on its F2P model that it does nothing to improve gameplay, it just focuses on cosmetics and RNG superficial number upgrades which are useless since the game is already too easy. PSO2 is a great action game that is trying its HARDEST to be a bad F2PMMO experience.
Sega is going to ruin this game faster than they ruined PSU by trying to be cheep with adding content. The areas are nice, but they just keep adding tons of weapons and armors that are all copies of eachother with different stats. Even the rare BOSSES are completely identical AI wise.
PSO was great because it specifically did not do this. Why is Sega ignoring such a integral concept for Phantasy Star? Has fanservice, character freedom and clothing options REALLY taken over everything about this game?

I stopped reading there. if you find PSO1 to be so perfect go find a pserv and play it already.

> Seeing the words "PSO" without a "2" on it and going off the deep end.
Comparing a game to its numbered sequel is SO STUPID! It's not like any other game series on the planet that i can possibly think of will EVER share or build off any concept introduced in the one before it! And only a BIASED NOSTALGIA LOVER would think so!
…So you somehow believe that PSO2 should ignore the entry it's supposed to be a sequel to? Sounds like a funny idea, especially when it's called PSO2. You should learn to read and understand things before you make bad generalizations on people's intentions.
If saying "PSO did some things better than PSO2" somehow means "PSO is the best thing ever", then it sounds like YOU'RE the delusional one here.

the problem is that people are going "well if it's not like PSO1 then it's trash", and I've been seeing it right along. it's tiresome. PSO1 wasn't that special. and it having done something is not a cue that something later must do the same.
sure, compare. but don't act like it's some grand and special thing that needs to be slavishly recreated.
it's never just "PSO1 did such and such better". it's always "PSO2 isn't doing the same thing as PSO1 therefore it's a bad game!", etc etc. like it or not, it isn't PSO1 and isn't going to BE PSO1. nor will it be PSU even for what things it inherits from there. nor PSZero, nor PSPo2i, nor the classic phantasy star series.

See this is the problem. It has nothing to do with the fact that the ideas are or aren't coming from PSO.
When people compared PSU to PSO, everyone did the same thing you're doing right now with the "pso overrated" card. The ironic thing is when people decide to compare PSO2 to PSU, NOBODY ever seems to complain. Rarely anyone gets butthurt when people compare PSO2 to PSU. They seem to all the sudden embrace the fact PSU had terrible flaws. However, regardless of the entry, when people do the same thing with PSO, everyone gets up in arms. Do you notice how nobody seems to have a big issue with new mechanics when they actually work BETTER than the old ones?
"The game is young" isn't a valid excuse. Not because PSO didn't have flaws when it was young, but because PSO2 is a >>>SEQUEL<<< to not only PSO, but PSU, PSP2i and PSZ. You are SUPPOSED to change everything about the game, but keep core gameplay intact and improved. So when PSO2 suffers from issues that PSO managed to avoid using an engine developed 12 years ago….
PSO2 is both drastically different and the exact same as PSO/PSU. Kill enemies, pick up drops, kill fun bosses. So when these core features start lacking, it's very easy to look backwards and identify why. This is why "PSO" keeps coming up.
Economy issues i can deal with. Premium Content i can even deal with. Bugs and hacking i can deal with. Hell, even bad RNG mechanics i can deal with. All come with F2P MMOs.
But non-unique weapons, terrible Ability system, completely removed diversity between races, non-existant difficulty changes (even PSU did better than this), Techniques/Skills that don't evolve….these are features where I draw the line. Not because they aren't like PSO, but because I loved this game when i first started playing, but it has hit a brick wall and people are quickly starting to notice why.

Actually, I think Remius is giving some very valid points and, to me, in no moment it seemed as he didn't like the game.
I'm in no way too far in the game (just got to Sky Islands), though I have invested more time in it than in any previous PSO/U/Z/Po version (the only exception is probably the classic series), but some stuff are noticible that they could have been better handled or, in the best case, still be changed to be better handled.
I'll be looking forward to future features/changes in the game and hoping we have some kind of (official) bridge between the non-JP players and the content creators after the abroad servers are set. That way, maybe we can be heard and the game will be even better than it is.

At the end of the trailer you can catch a quick glimpse of the third sub/ add Spirita δ which has 1 affix: Technique III . Using that as an example we can assume that the other two sub units have Power III and Shoot III as the only affix for each respective sub unit (they're shown with only 1 affix as well). Going even further we can assume that the Gunscissors follow a similar pattern (also shown with only 1 affix). Perhaps they are doing this to make synthesis easier?

Aren't you the same person I wrote a lengthy reply to a while back? I don't recall comparing to PSO1 at all, I merely pointed out the faults of PSO2. If you're not reading properly, don't assume that everyone is "comparing".
People often seem to justify PSO2's problems by comparing with the series' past games or other games that are worse. Comparson has absolutely zero relevancy and should not be used as justification for faults. I look at things in terms of how they could be much better, not how they could be worse. That's the kind of mindset everyone should have if they actually want to improve in life.
I wanted this game to be good, but I ended up disappointed and can't seem to enjoy it anymore. It's not just me; even amongst people who like PSO2, I see everyone (eg. 4gamer.net reviews) complaining about the exact same issues. You can always delude yourself into accepting the game as it is for the sake of your personal enjoyment and happiness, but that won't make the game better. Sometimes people NEED to complain to get the ball rolling.
Sure, SEGA tries to address the minor problems, but they seem to be completely oblivious to the fundamental problems. As I often say, building on top of a crappy foundation simply doesn't work; sooner or later it's all going to come crashing down.

What people seem to fail to realize is that the core of this game is solid. The combat system (gameplay) with the unique feeling of each class is solid and fun. We all know that doing the same thing again and again will get boring eventually (hell, even F*CKing with the same person again and again gets boring). There is no way to fix that.
I don't think the affix/ability system of the game is broken like some people said. It's a hell of a money sink, and everybody knows this game need some real good money sinks to control inflation.
Stuff like unique weapons (Frozen Shooter, Tsumikiri J-Sword, etc.) can be easily added eventually.
But before they give us more power (subclasses was a hell of a buff already), I think they need to adjust difficulty. Make some enemies more aggressive (less time walking around staring and more fighting) and give them more than just plain damage (lillys paralizing, insta-killing).

@Taiga '
"Sure, SEGA tries to address the minor problems, but they seem to be completely oblivious to the fundamental problems. "
This is really the most tragic part. The reason things are panning out the way they are isn't because they aren't able to fix it. It's just that they don't know what they're trying to fix. Ever since PSU, the way Phantasy Star has tried to fix things is somewhat akin to throwing sponges at a flooding sink.
@Anon
I really don't think anyone fails to see how solid the combat in this game has turned out. It rivals most commercial action games.
But like what TaigaUC pointed out, the reason it's gotten boring so fast has little to do with the combat system. it has to do with everything else. It's the exact same core issue PSU suffered from. Their model for growth completely ignores everything that made PSO2's earlygame content so fun and alluring. The sheer fact that PSO2 built such a solid combat engine yet got lazy on everything else just shows how SEGA has grown accustomed to flowcharting the new Phantasy Star games….or just how little they understand about what made the original gain so much out of so little. Both are frightening.
It isn't that the Affix system is broken. It's more that it's cheap and ultimately useless. Compared to the original Tekker system, PSO2 Affix system requires more effort, and gives you not only less utility and control over your abilities (all passive, no activation), but it's costs and rates are ridiculous for what little you actually can gain. It's a step backwards no matter how you look at it, and all you can gain out of it are higher damage numbers.
This is probably the most solid action MMO anyone will see within the next few years, but it's almost more fundamentally flawed in the content department than even PSU was, and DEFINITELY more than PSP2 was. I just don't understand how sega can take so many giant steps forward just to catch a train south.

flawed growth models seem to be the running thing with online-era phantasy star games.
and while I was starting to wall o' text again, I think I'll just not bother. it's a bit tiresome being told I'm a deluded fool with an inferiority complex every time I don't agree with everything being said, and I'm not sure there's a point to bothering with saying all that much. whatever I say, you'll say I'm wrong. so, why bother if your minds are made up? it's been a long day and I'm honestly out of "give a damn"s.

I dont see what you have to lose. Last wall-o-text i posted, some guy jumped out an internet tube and called me a condescending douchebag.
If you disagree you're free to say why. I don't know why people seem to have the idea that the only time you can comment on something is if you agree with / are in love with it. (And also why it's somehow okay to insult people when you don't)
But yes, flawed growth models are doing it. As i type this though i want to almost take it back though.
The reason it happens is because it's a shitty design model for a fun videogame, but ironically the most profitable BUSINESS model you can ever apply to a videogame. Just look at the Korean MMO market.
