Having complete separation between the two (a la PSU vs PSP2 vs PSP2i) where each game may be related but one's updates do not affect the other, is something I think most of us can agree upon. If the interactions between the two is limited to just downloading character data, then I'm OK with that as it didn't hinder PSUpc updates at all. All they did was drop support for PSU importing and each community moved on.
