Today Captain T updated and in his usual style where he rambles instead of giving straight information. Today he talked about  “Friend Search”

Back in the Beach post I mentioned “Friend Search” and how you’re able to download another person’s character into your game. Terada reminds us that Friend Search is a THIRD network function among Multiplayer Mode and Online Multiplayer mode.  When developing this mode, it appears they were a bit hesitant in how this function would work, as shown in this exchange:

Sakai: Hey I want to put in a Passive Communication Mode!
Terada: Crazy! Ya Crazy Boy! (Yes in English!)
Sakai: It’s very overseas-like. Is it bad or something?

So yes it was something like that. This Friend Search thing is kind of like Dragon Quest 9′s tag mode, in a sense. So it transfers character data from nearby PSPs. You can just go by its literal translation as “Communications when you pass by others.”

Terada says a popular PSP game that was recently released last week has this mode enabled. (I’ll try to find out which game it was..)

Of course our main feature is this character. He is the president of some company.

A president of a company with white hair? Hmm who could this be…
Terada blurred the picture…

Sega vs Fansites

This week something uh interesting happened.  When ALL of the vision phone password were released, Ruby Eclipse, a GM from Phantasy Star Universe, was a bit peeved. It appears the community managers had plans to release the codes through blogs, and possibly magazines as a way to promote the game. This then generated a debate on three different sites as to the ethical nature on how it was leaked. Though things have kind of calmed down now, the process on how to install Japanese DLC into the US/EU version of the game was discovered. We’re still awaiting official word if this workaround method will be supported by SoA.

But since you guys are playing Japanese DLC, expect a new category to the PSP2 Info at the sidebar which will list all DLC Missions conveniently in one place. In regards to Wandering Peddler, I’ll complete the entire list in the 4th post later on.

And of course my favorite part is… Infinity.

Surprisingly Sakai didn’t update today, which meant more sleep time for me…

Today we talk about the Screenshot Function within Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. With the Screenshot function you can take a picture anytime except during FMV cutscenes. It’s possible to take screenshots within fields and event scenes too.

You can additionally remove the HUD from the screenshot.
This also removes text dialogue with Event Scenes.

The official movie and TGS movie has been uploaded to the official site. Does this mean they will lift the Youtube  ban on foreigners posting it?

Gamespot Japan

Sakai playing as Colonel Sanders Character.

Gamespot Japan did their news roundup about the Tokyo Game Show, though they mention Colonel Sanders and something really strange. It appears that if you play as this character, no matter what weapon you use, it will always appear as a cane. Also when you consume Calorie Mates, it can max your Blast Gauge.

@Dioscyfo F2P is a great model cause you get to choose what you want to pay for. And when done right, like in the case of PSO2, it doesn’t disturb the core game and adds value to the experience.

@DioScyfo F2P does not equal COMPLETELY FREE. There are services and cosmetic, and helper items that you would have to pay for if you wanted them. Free to play means just that. You get to play for free. Extras = $

Nothing has been decided yet. But I really doubt they’ll organize an CBT 2nd : they have to release the game ASAP, to make people pay. And excepted the lag issue that could be resolved during the OBT,

I remember reading something about another possible closed beta before they did open beta again, did they scratch that or did it already happen?
