So after months of funny, odd, and strange front page messages on minorcris.net’s homepage, including at one point advertising free PS3s. Minorcrisis has relaunched as mp3space. Enjoy increased bandwith as members now receive 30GB Monthly transfers, 100mb of space, and 10mb max file sizes.
Minorcrisis may be down, but there are more sites out there that will handle your storage for hotlinking MP3s. There are some facebook applications that lets you place a music player in your profile. So if you want to add cool music to your profile, you gotta start uploading.
File Nanny joins the block with the most easy to use storage section. After you upload your file, every single song is stored within the My files area. Click on Share and you’ll get the direct link to the song.

Hotlink Files does just what it intended. Pretty much it hotlinks all your files. It uses the same interface as snapdrive so you should be familiar with it. You have to register in order to upload mp3s. After you upload the files, click Just the Direct URLs at the top.

FileXoom is another hotlinking site, however it seems to be suffering problems during testing, so hopefully one day it will be up and running, so keep this in the back of your head until another site goes down. In our tests, sometimes filexoom failed to redirect us to our files. It also got confused when we uploaded Mp3s. In their faq, it says the limit is 100MB, but when we upload mp3s it says the limit is 2mb, far below maximum required. This might great for images but very bad for music. Fortunately it has the highest bandwith per month making it a great deal for small files.

I’m not sure whats going on in Quicksharing.com, but for the past week, the upload button has been unclickable. Both legal and illegal files uploaded to the server have been mysteriously deleted. By google searching, I have not yet found a single file that is still hosted there. The site has just sat there cold and alone with no activity going on and no updates as to what will happen to it. I don’t want nominate quicksharing to the deadpool, but can we atleast have a press release?
Soundsnap a sound effect sharing site, where anyone who makes good high quality sound effects can upload and share with the world. Soundsnap organizes sounds by categories, and each one brings you to other deeper categories to find that specific sound your looking for. On the listings page, Soundsnap provides each sound effect with a flash preview and sound wave pattern. The site is pretty stable most of the time. However, if you click on a WAV file and then click a preview sound after that, it causes Internet Explorer to display an error that it cannot download. This goes away if you refresh the page.
One of the things we liked is their use of tags. Each sound file has their own tag, which helps you identify what exactly is going on. You can also use these tags to find deeper search results, for example, if your looking for laugh tracks but with only a female voice, the tags can be typed into the search bar and they’ll show up in the results. The only thing we would like from this service to make it easier, is to be able to click on multiple tags on the same screen. That way people wouldn’t have to type anything in the search bar to get relevant content.

MailboxDrive’s interface is a bit obnoxious and the steps it takes to get a file activated is silly.
First, Register by clicking Register Here on the right side. After you fill out your information, update your contact information Click on Upload Music Upload the song. Open your Email Activate the Song by going through the link in the email. Click Your Music The mp3 will be the numbers before Play Button. Right Click on the Link, and press Copy Shortcut.

FileAve registration process is a bit strange as it sends you off to its sister website for no reason. If this happens to you just go back to fileave.com and login from there. First Register by clicking SignUp! Fill out your details. Log In! Click Files, Upload Files, Browse, and select your MP3 Click Upload and Click Files again Right Click on your MP3 File and press Copy Shortcut The direct link to your file is within the shortcut. If you want to quickly embed the file, click Get Codes for ways on how to put it on your website.

Similar but not as obnoxious as FileDen, SnapDrive allows users to instantly create a flash player they can put on myspace. Register First, then Click Add Files Click Upload, then Click My Files The Direct Link of the Mp3s can be found by clicking Edit next to the file name, then clicking URL. SnapDrive also hosts their own mp3 flash player which you can read about in their blog.

The site is a bit cluttered with Ads, but is pretty nice and easy to upload. The fun stops here once the image linking codes are shown. Each image linking code has a direct link back to photolinko, including a text link below the image. Its pretty easy to remove it out, but for people who don’t know how to, they’ll have to deal with it. The site has linking codes for Myspace, Forums, and HTML. [photolinko]

One of the few black interfaces to upload images. Its very clean and tidy. Uploading images are pretty fast, sometimes too fast that the image shows itself as a red box because it hasn’t been processed yet. After a few seconds you can go to the direct link of the image and it will load correctly. Linking codes are clean and nice. The site has linking fodes for HTML, and Forums. [jpegr]

img.la reminds me of the heiress Paris Hilton. With its sleek and sexy design, the forms move up and down moothly allowing you to upload your image and read more information while its being processed. Unfortunately, just like Paris Hilton, the site was too stuck up that it didn’t want to give us the linking codes to any image and failed to show us where the image uploaded to. You have to sign up inorder to use this site. Which is unfortunate to people who want a quick linking code. The site also provides a nice image editing tool but without any undo options for some strange reason. Linking codes can be directly inserted in your myspace by login information (Web Apps insists that you don’t give any website your Myspace Login Information). Imagehigh has a large form to upload as many images as you want as long as you abide to the terms of service. They even put a scare tactic saying your IP has been logged for who knows what.. Anyways as we were trying to upload the image, it redirected us to a blank page and we don’t know where our images went. This site has failed due to bugs. [imagehigh]

bayimg is the Pirate Bay’s image hosting site, promissing that images won’t go down with DMCA notices unless they are "illegal". Bayimg requires every image have a removal code. You can also upload images within a zip file as an album. Direct linking isn’t shown after you upload the image, you’ll have to right click and select properties to see the direct linking URL. OneDump came along to the file hosting market with 3 simple choices. You can host your Mp3s and even hotlink them for Myspace Flash Music players. You can host your pictures and spread them on forums and websites. You can also host your terrible fanfiction stories as .txt or .doc files. There’s some good things going on at OneDump though, for instance, its not bombarded with advertisments, it allows adult images, and there is no bandwith limits. Remember though, with every other file hosting site, copyrighted files have a higher chance of being deleted from the server. You can also register incase you want to keep track of your files.
